Just had a fantastic, lean (for me anyways) breakfast.

Parmesan omolette, grilled Tomkin tomatoes and some Cumbrian dry cured back bacon.

Oh man it was heavenly.

As the crap with Kinja, Nibbles or (well, who ever the hell it is), won’t let me post pictures you’ll have to take my word for it.

But seriously. Grate some parmesan into a small frying pan covering the whole surface 1cm (2 fifths an inch) deep while the pan is cold, heat till melted and then add two beaten eggs and then nurse the pan like you would any omolette. When ready, fold in half and serve.

On a completely unrelated note, are you looking for a roommate?

Not presently. Lol.

for dessert (do people have dessert after breakfast?)

I’m having candy floss grapes (they also come in strawberry grapes and tropical flavour grapes). Which are also, so good.

I didn’t know flavored grapes existed, is that an typically English thing? I loved the food when we were over there for Christmas last year; between the curry and cheeses and bread and sandwiches in Borough Market and some of the hole-in-the-wall pubs and restaurants hidden along side streets everything we ate was brilliant.

I don’t know how they do the grapes but they are a nice change.

It’s surprising what fruits are out there. such as donut peaches (sugar doughnut shaped peaches) (aka saturn peaches), custard apples (aka sugar apples), etc...

Ye’, curry (chicken tikka masala) is one of our two national dishes and we are very fond of a nice curry from time to time be it a korma, dhansak, madras, jalfrezi, phaal, vindaloo, biryani, bhuna, balti, etc...

Many say British food is bland and boring but I say they aren’t doing it right or going to the right places.

You can’t beat a roast beef dinner. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, carrot and swede mash, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, etc...

I’ll have to be on the lookout for them here in the States, wonder if we have any of that here. And I never got the “British food is boring” stereotype; when we were there everything we ate, from ethnic dishes to traditional British food, was great. I think the problem is foreigners aren’t used to such subtle flavorings in their food, seems like the restaurants we went to were very stingy with the spice cabinet. I liked that though, it let the quality of the food be its own flavor instead of drowning it in spices and seasonings.

And I’ll agree with you there on the roast beef dinner. We had what was called a Sunday Roast at one restaurant and it was delightful; a big hunk of beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, steamed veg, the whole lot. Makes me want to go back over there again lol.

I should think you would but they may be under a different name. Quite a few fruit and veg are named differently around the world.

So true. It’s subtle flavours from the quality of the ingredients to the overall flavour of the food.

Ye’, can’t beat a sunday roast. I’m partial to making giant Yorkshire pudding in a baking tray, slow cooking a joint of beef till really tender then sitting it in the middle of a plated pudding, then with the beef juices make into a thick gravy and pour over. Then sit down and enjoy with a pint of ale.
