I mean most truck buyers don’t offroad their trucks, we’ve already got the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Surely this can’t be that bad of any idea right?
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:16 |

Not amazingly.

you realize we had them at one time, right? The El Camino, Ranchero, and Rampage/Scamp were all utes, and they fizzled out. stop acting like we need something we don’t want just because it’s popular in another country.

The number of Utes in the picture you posted contains more Utes than would be sold in the US.
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:18 |

We came so close, I would’ve bought one.

Exactly like a cheap sportscar. A bunch of sales the first two or three years then the market would cutout completely as everyone that wants something that different badly enough to spend $30k-$40k on one new will have that itch scratched. Then about 33% will go for whatever new version comes out after that model run (if any) but all those unsold year 4 and 5 models will drop the values astronomically to the point where owning a new 2nd generation ute would be financial suicide.

A car based truck? So good...
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:19 |

I’d be surprised if they made it to 20,000 units, unfortunately
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:19 |

Terribly. If it doesn’t have 4 doors, or access doors, it will not sell here.
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:21 |

It’d sell so well that no company would ever consider trying to justify even attempting to suggest selling this.

Close enough:

Wrong, I would match that number.
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:25 |

Poorly, unfortunately. I wants one so bad!
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:26 |

Poorly. Just like the old Ridgeline and likely the new one.
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:26 |

What is that
![]() 10/14/2016 at 23:26 |

Six. It would sell roughly six copies.
The Chevy “SS” (give it a damn name you lazy assholes!) is already here and has just enough takers to justify itself. (Barely. My 74 year old Dad still thinks it’s the RWD version of his 2011 Impala..)
Unless every Hillbilly suddenly hits the Redneck 401k? A new “El Camino” would be a flop.

I’m pretty sure there’s a reason that Subaru no longer makes the Baja or the Brat.

A Rebadged Fiat Strada, sold as a Ram 700 in Mexico. The Fiat Strada is a small pick up based on the Brazilean Fiat Palio.
That one in the image has 3 doors and a front LSD for some off road ability.
And there is a more basic “Work” trim.

0 times anything is still 0.

pickup cars are awesome!
If GM could have a low starting price, it will succeed. They should call it the GMC El Camino. GMC would have a unique product in their brand, and the El Camino name has brand cachet. (Yeah I know there was a GMC Caballero, but it’s not as well-known)
Base V6 starting in the low 20s or even below 20k
Then a V6 model with more features
And of course, a V8
and finally, an SS version

I think that’s the problem. Not enough people use their trucks as trucks here in the US. If more people actually used their trucks I think there would be more of a demand.
![]() 10/15/2016 at 00:56 |

Been there, done that - never again...
(if there’s no image I’ve been Kinja’d again like almost every one of my posts in the last week...)
![]() 10/15/2016 at 01:46 |

It would sell poorly and not because of lack of demand. They would price it wrong and we would end up with the same problem as the SS sedan.
![]() 10/15/2016 at 06:35 |

The problem is they’re almost all two-seat vehicles. Two-seaters are an absolute non starter in the US for anything except sports/performance cars. We don’t even buy regular cab pickup trucks anymore; crew cabs are something like 70% of F-150 production.

I would buy a Falcon Ute in a heartbeat especially with a coyote heart in it.
![]() 10/15/2016 at 09:57 |

I know they’d sell at least a handful. Most of my friends want one.
![]() 10/15/2016 at 19:52 |

Well said. I pretty much don’t have to make a response since you nailed it.
Except to add, I also would have bought one.
![]() 10/15/2016 at 19:52 |

As would have I.
Thanks a lot, Obama.
![]() 10/17/2016 at 06:50 |

Is it 30 metres long? Does it weigh more than 10 tonne? If not, it’s not capable to fulfill the needs of literally any person in America and will not sell.
![]() 10/17/2016 at 12:40 |

All the unit!!!!
![]() 10/17/2016 at 12:43 |

Would you buy one?
![]() 10/17/2016 at 12:45 |

In a heart beat. As long as I could have a HSV rebadged as a GXP. But then again I would love to be the guy in charge of resurrecting the Pontiac name to sell performance cars.

I’d get a LS3 powered one with a tow hitch
