Even the 6-cylinder is supposed to have a sub-5 second 0-60 run. I know the B58 is a monster, but that also means that the car has been lightened pretty significantly as well.

I mean, my 6 cylinder F15 X5 weighs almost 5,000 pounds and does the 0-60 run in just a little over 5 seconds, so having this do it in under 5 sec is a given.
Also the 340i already does the sprint a blistering 4.4 seconds. Ridiculous.

That just seems excessive.

Ive driven N55 And B58 cars back to back and they feel completely different, in favor of the B58. The N55 was a huge improvement over the N54 in terms of drivability and reliability, but neither really lived up to the spirit of the larger displacement 6-cylinders that they replaced. But the B58 goes, sounds, and feels like a BMW I6 Should.

Well there’s been no word on if the 550 will continue on. So the 540I (B58) may be the top non-M model.

greed. But from what I’ve read the smallest 6 cilinder is the 540i. The 530i has a 4.
I bet even the 520d will be plenty fast for 95% of the lease crowd.

I’m still wrapping my head around it using double wishbones over macphearson struts up front. Maybe they’re getting their athleticism back finally.

I’d love a 5 that drives like a 2.

Front page has stuff on the 550i. Apparently it’s fast.

Either that, or with 8+ speeds in the gearbox they can give it stump pulling low ratios to make good numbers for the blogazines and fanbois without sacrificing fuel economy on top.

That makes me tingle in all the right places. That also means that the M5 will be psychotically fast.

Apparently Berger dynoed the stock B58 at 330whp.

BMW’s version of the ZF 8-speed doesn’t have any granny gears to my knowledge. Its mostly just an overabundance of overdrive to make sure you have a perfect cruising ratio regardless of what speed you settle in at.

The B58 is stupid powerful. And still has crazy fuel economy.

I hope they’ve found a way to fix the nose heavy feel in the V8 models though.

Now if they can keep it from failing out of warranty....

Not going to happen. BMW’s lack of long-term quality is a different conversation, one I have with clients on an almost daily basis.

Probably so, but as fast as they shift through the lower gears I doubt it would hurt them much to put some low ratios on the bottom. I haven’t looked at the specs at all, just speculating.

Damn. I missed this because of Kinja Blocker... has Westbrook’s role been changing more towards the daily news cycle?

From what I was told, the timing chains are now at the rear of the engine... so replacing them it’s an engine-out job.

Question. On the subject of BMW, Stanceworks has a new shirt available for the CSL Cowboys. As an Alabamian, seeing they were based out of Hueytown, AL, it piqued my interest. I can’t seem to find much on them, do you know anything about them or where to find info?

...are pieces of shit. As are the timing chain guides. And intake manifolds. And starters...

Want to hear a joke? A BMW v8 with good timing chain guides.

True story. I really like the M62, but literally every one of them destroys its guides. They’ll run forever if you do them though. The N62 though... Ugh, what a shitheap.

They had a few of the 1975 season E9 CSLs.

I know one of them was #21, and I believe they worked out of a garage named Allison’s Garage in Hueytown, Alabama. That’d pretty much all I could find.
