If you’ve ever wanted the sometimes maligned(grumble grumble it’s not a wrangler) and sometimes praised(utility, looks, not terrible driving), I noticed today that prices are pretty well slashed. Here are a bunch of manual, AWD/4wd versions. These weren’t even the cheapest ones, but have slightly bigger discounts. One was under $16k, but beware as even A/C was an option if I’m not mistaken.

And I know it’s not in line with their purpose, but I’ve always thought renegades looked good when lowered; kind of like an adorable little tank. I just want to ecu tune it, put a straight pipe on in place of the muffler and pretend I’m a rally driver on some forest service roads.

It is much harder to faceplant if you use a car for your stoppies.

IDK, owning a cheap Chrysler is a faceplant on its own?

Am I the only one who actually wants a Renegade now specifically because it can do that?

Is this a problem with the 500x as well? Or just nobody cares because nobody bought them over here.

True but there is no physical damage to your face with a Chrysler product. Just a lot of emotional damage.

Maybe I would. Maybe I would...

But seriously, it’s not like I’m running out the door with money in hand, just noticed one on CL cheap and so I ran a search through autotrader to see if it was a fluke. Prior to the stoppie news the only issues anyone really seemed to have with these things was the auto transmission.

When I talked to a dealer about it, he said that none of the salesmen there have sold any to men; all the buyers were female.

I like them, though. The wife wants one next summer when it’s time to car shop. It will definitely have the removable roof panels, but she will probably not let me get the manual...

Im surprised to hear the bias is that strong, it sounds like a line they would use to up sell men to a Cherokee. I only regularly see one and it’s driven by a man in my neighborhood but anyways, yeah I think it would be on a list of cars for my wife and I to split and for weekend adventures.

The Sport trim is rental-car spec. The dealers will generally only stock one or two of those.  The idea is that they discount the bloody hell out of them, bring people in the door because of the low low low advertised price, then switch them to a more expensive model with more options.

That would be a smart, dirty trick. But I simply mentioned that I liked them. And he knew I was only there for service on the truck that he sold me just last year, so I wasn’t in the market.
