A decent bath will do wonders for the complexion. It’s back to being black as opposed to dark navy-yellow.

I want to buy one of these and T56 swap it so badly. I’ve almost bought one twice already but I don’t need any more projects.

My dad had one of these. Kept it 10 years, sold it with like 5,500 miles on it, most of them were courtesy of me. God, I miss that car. It was so much fun!

I didn’t know you had an Impala SS.

I love this big boys cars! You can fit 5 huge guys in one comfortably. I fell asleep in my friends tealish color one, while at a car show, and was out for 3 hours. I missed most of the show. They are so comfortable though.

A manual doesn’t fit the character of it. She’s a lazy brute.

Haha, nice. You’ll have to let us know how many miles are on it. The great thing was that LT1/4L65E-HD combo was practically unstoppable. I love these cars so much.

These have the 4L60-E transmission, but yeah, aside from the rear end* and occasional WP/Optispark I don’t see much trouble.

*my dad ‘upgraded’ the rear end when replacing it while I was at college. Maybe the gears are shorter, but most noticeable is the consistent whine. Not sure if it’s an aggressive cut or something is wearing, in either case it has been a decade...

Holy shit this is beautiful. The Impala SS is a long time favorite car if mine. Only a handful of them made their way to Germany and I couldn’t believe it when one popped up for sale in my town.

Oh okay, for somereason I thought they had the -65, but either way, unless you’re making like 600+HP the 4L60 is a beast. And yeah, the old Optispark issue, I’d almost forgotten about that, thanks for reminding me.

It’s probably not shimmed right, so the pinion and ring are slightly off. I’ve never set a rear up, but I hear it is somewhat difficult to get it just right. Also, I think GM uses a coating on their gears to help with noise, if they are aftermarket they may not have it.

Mmm I wish these were cheaper. The Impala SS is my favourite final B-body

Looking good!

The Roadmaster is mad at me for putting it up for sale. It’s got a bizzare intermittent scraping noise somewhere up front.
