Just got off the phone for an interview to be a frac engineer, and I was exactly what they were looking for. Off to interview #2 today

You’re petroleum engineering, right? When do you graduate?

Yep I am. December 2017 graduate. Terribly nervous for the job prospects when I come out of school.

I feel you. Anyone graduating this year gotten anything? If I were you I’d avoid a service company as a petroleum engineer. However, if it’s all you got, experience in field operations is always a plus. Also if you want my opinion on a service company or about my experience with one, I’ll be more than happy to share, especially if you get offered a job by one.
