No anxiety necessary, I assure you. No matter what happens, to whatever degree we’re fucked or may currently be fucking you, we have Trans-Ams. Like, so many Trans-Ams. Stock ones, race cars, manuals, automatics, Thunder Chickens in so many colors. Something for everyone, even right hand drive if that’s your thing. They bring balance to the world. Fear not, friends, for the Trans-Ams rustle softly.

Yeah, the sex. Those wheels process the world’s problems, puree them, and eject them as rainbows and beer.

You’re killing me here, it’s just too badass. Safe to say the GTAs were the best looking of the F-bodies. Love the red trim on the rear spoiler.

Yeah... trim... Let’s go with that. Thanks though! I’m immensely proud to call it my car; I’ve loved GTAs since the first time I saw one as a kid!

Well, paint, whatever. It looks good. I built a 1/24 model of a GTA as a kid, loved them for a long time.

It says something about American resilience that after witnessing the complete cluster-dud of a debate tonight, that the mere mention of my least favorite muscle car still brings me a sense of peace and security.

Glad to give some assurance, I hoped it would, and I’m a (furtive glance left to right) Mustang fan. Of course the debate is completely irrelevant in and of itself, no new shit came to light, and no questions were answered. I can’t believe that our candidates are this bad, even the alternative party nominees. Well, I can, but what the fuck, you know? Best I can do is T/As for everyone.

Hooker is a company that makes headers, custom exhaust manifolds, etc. Been around for decades, now owned by Holley.

You have more reason for it than I, I’m sure, because I’ve never served and can only imagine what soldiers go through in theater and once home with PTSD. Not to mention whatever feelings you might have on the reasons you’ve been sent off. But I’m a father of two young daughters, and I’ll be damned if I don’t fear for their future and the country/world I’m giving them. I don’t want to have to say “I’m sorry” on my deathbed, you know? Fathers are supposed to protect, goddamnit, so what is this shit? And with regard to the service, I don’t want a vain, egotistical man like Trump commanding good people like you, because you all deserve better. We all deserve better.

(((hugs))) to both of y’all.
I haven’t had a physical reaction like this to news in a while. I had to lie down a little bit while we were watching stuff come in because it felt like my heart was going to pound out of my chest.
I hope I don’t have misplaced faith in the system’s crushing bureaucracy, but there’s at least that in the way, hopefully pushing for cooler heads to prevail on say, foreign policy matters. Checks, balances, etc., etc.—please do your job.
I try to avoid taking serious written stances on political stuff because most of what I deal with is race cars and fun, but I don’t even feel like I have any protection in my job now. The U.S. just elected the single most hostile candidate in years towards the press, and one of his biggest supporters was the fascist dingus who thinks funding vindictive, frivolous lawsuits to destroy a media company you don’t like is A-OK. (That’s a whole ‘nother Reason for Panic I won’t discuss further out of respect to our old owners, but it’s worth noting.)
What first amendment? It doesn’t exist if elected officials continue to view it as fancy toilet paper. Unfortunately, that’s the one that enables me to well, do this job. If I have to continue to be afraid that someone miffed by a #hottake is going to feel emboldened to file a lawsuit/harass me/punch me in the face out of nowhere, what the
hell
are we doing as a country?
I live in Texas. I know what Republicans do—some of it’s not what I’d want, but we’ve hopefully got a chance later to vote out the dudes we really don’t agree with—president included. The change in government somehow worries me less than everything around it.
It’s the rando Trump supporters in the “Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required.” t-shirts that I’m absolutely terrified of right now. I’m scared for friends who aren’t white, who’ve been more outspoken on political matters, who are female, or who emigrated here from other countries. It’s that scary fringe of the pro-Trump set that advocates for violence and a less respectful world that terrifies the crap out of me. They feel validated. Nothing good can come out of that. I just hope that there are enough calmer heads in the way if they want to act out.
Do we need another writer at the Nürburgring? I’ve been thinking about learning another language to deal with my old German car habit anyway...

What the hell are we doing, indeed.
Last line first: Funny, I sent an email to my good friend who runs Rotek’s shop there last night asking about moving and living expenses, joking/not joking. See you at Pistenklause, huh?
There’s an Army surplus/survivalist store across the street from my shop, and those guys are all kitted out in camo today, more than usual. “Rope/tree” kind of guys, bumper stickers and all. Spooks me out a little. I likewise try to avoid political stands on the internets, because that’s a dumb hill to die on in communities I otherwise greatly enjoy, but I too have a visceral reaction to this that I’ve never experienced. When Bush beat Gore I was 20, just being a dumbass, and didn’t have any dependents so though it bothered me, it wasn’t really a threat. Now? I have two little girls for whom I want a peaceful world, a wife who wants to work but stays at home because we can’t afford childcare, living expenses are through the roof, we’d be kicked off our insurance that took for damn ever to get, the world is in an environmental emergency greater than any in human history that we created which a significant portion of our electorate has chosen to overlook (this alone should unify us, but no...), racial tension is at its highest point in my lifetime, arguably since the early 60's, rich people get richer and I can’t get a raise working 10 hours a day running someone else’s business... just... fuck, man. None of this is good, and I don’t know what I can do to make it better. As a father, this just breaks my heart.
I went down to the pub last night, and nobody was happy. Literally nobody. the barman is Irish and was beside himself. I was then up until 2 in disbelief, and didn’t really sleep much after that. My wife and mom-in-law had gone to bed before it was called and woke up to shock and dismay. The term “existential threat” gets thrown around too much perhaps, but I can’t say I’ve ever really felt it until now. It’s not just Trump. We can deal with one man. It’s the (pre-existing, now magnified) erosion of the checks and balances with both houses of the worst Congress in history, the Supreme Court implications, the promised regressive policy decisions that will set us back decades on everything from voting rights, women’s rights, LGBT rights, racial equality, environmental protection, freedom of speech and press (arrgghh Thiel... I don’t agree with Gawker’s behavior, honestly, and don’t give a shit about celebrity gossip, but fuck that guy for the precedent he’s set against journalists and for bought censorship), unwarranted surveillance, predatory business practices, election buying, the complete loss of foreign credibility... everything that Cheeto has said, promised to do, and people chose to ignore all of it. That’s what scares me, many, many people actually believing a man like this. I have no great love for Hillary, I didn’t vote for her in the primary because she is a deeply problematic person and is really an 80's Republican in a Progressive costume, but she is arguably the most qualified candidate we’ve had in a generation, and would be unlikely to drag us backwards on such a level.
We’ve empowered angry racist white people with a very poor understanding of how humanity works, and I can only hope this is their last gasp on the national stage, and that we field reasonable candidates next time around, and don’t do too much damage in the meantime. I’m not optimistic, but we’ll see.
/rant off
Thanks, Stef

10/10 good buddy. Remember to use the head before heading out. No time for 10/100 let alone 10/200. Do it to it like Pruit used to do it to it. Over and out.
