This was my second attempt at actually finding Badger Lake, my first attempt being almost 2 years ago. Once I found it, I realized the lake itself isn’t much to see. The trail getting out there is 12 miles of varying terrain that gets worse and rockier the closer you get to the lake. A Jeep isn’t totally necessary, though— I saw a bone stock Tracker and even a beat up mid-90s Accord along the way. It would be a fun place to bring the family with tents and the canoe for a weekend.

Big doggo had a good time, at least.

I think you stumbled onto Jeep’s marketing angle. Jeep: Not totally necessary, but nice to have.

Nice to have *sometimes*... definitely not necessary!

No way! I was driving out there yesterday (Lookout Mountain Rd. -> Bennett Pass Rd.) as a detour after hitting up some fruit stands one the East side of Mt. Hood. The water is super low now, but in the summer that is such a great spot for weekend camping.

Oh wow... I figured it was super low-that looks way better! Now that I actually went armed with the proper directions, I know how to get back there. We’ll be toting around an infant soon so I doubt we’ll do any camping in the near future, but it looks like an awesome spot to spend a weekend.
