Hendrix’s version of All Along the Watchtower should make the list. I’d also add Cowboy Junkies’ version of Sweet Jane.

All along the watchtower is on every list of covers ever, I mean what do I look like, some kind of haCK? (you can put it in the number 2 spot)

You could start a list of really unlikely covers with Warren Zevon’s cover of Raspberry Beret. It’s not good, but it’s definitely weird.

They are both very different in their approach, and both very good. I’m totally down with synths. Used to have several, and I still make electronic music; but my allegiance is to the Sonic Youth. Though I am planning a merging of guitars and electronics soon. Going to add a ring modulator to my guitar. Not a stompbox, but built-in to the guitar as a second output channel.
