Spotted this in Tampa tonight. What the hell is this monstrosity and why isn’t it over on the east coast pulling babies out of the storm surge?

That would appear to be an International CXT. Basically an International that, instead of becoming a box truck or a flatbed, ended up with a bed that’s kinda useless because it’s at like nose height. Kinda cool, but not super useful.

This is correct. They had a GVW 1lb under the limit before you needed a CDL to drive. Also, the bed is so high they can’t add a fifth wheel hitch. To do that, you have to downgrade to an MXT.

Tampa is on the west coast, the hurricane is grinding off the east coast. It’s a good two hour drive (+/- depending on exactly where) from coast to coast.

Sometimes I forget to clarify as I live on one coast and very close to another, where the rest of the country kinda lumps Florida in with the east coast. If you are used to looking at it like that, I come off sounding like a moron. Of course, I usually sound like a moron anyway...
