Spotted this baby just north of Edmonton last night. Chatted with the owner a bit and the car apparently only has 33,000 kms. The guy is a total Lada enthusiast. Turns out it is the same guy that owned the Lada Niva I posted a few years ago.

I rode in a Lada when i was in Russia, that door was so thin that I’m sure if we had gotten hit I’d be dead.

As long as it has less body damage than this, that was a Taxi I took when I was in Tyumen Russia.

Could you bend it by hand? My Peugeot’s door skins are that thin. Because lugging around extra mass isn’t necessary.

It almost looks like a 510 wagon or KE72 corolla wagon.

AvtoVaz used some pretty thick steel for their panels. More material means they take longer to rust through. The cats themselves are surprisingly sturdy. My Niva got shunted off the road by a b-train loaded with pipe changing lanes a couple years ago, only damage was a broken mirror and tire rubs down the side.

That thing is amazing! There’s an older Lada for sale on Kijiji right now in Ontario for a pretty reasonable price....looks in great shape and the owner DROVE it back from Halifax where it was imported, so it has to be in decent shape as that’s a long trip!!! $5700 seems pretty reasonable considering it supposedly gas 44k Kms!

The car it’s based on, the Fiat 124, pre-dates the 510 (and that Corolla). I would bet the Fiat, at over 3 million sold excluding 18+ million 124-based Ladas, also outsold the 510.
So it’s the other way around. The Datsun looks like a Fiat.

1996 Cossack, 1.7tbi. It’s been out of commission for most of the last year for one reason or another, new intake gaskets, new trans, new brakes, and now the latest is it needs a new oil pan, and the engine has to come out to replace it. Hopefully that happens in the next week or so, just in time to enjoy the snow again.

Kind of? That seems like accident damage. Charlie’s just rusted to shit and completely stripped.
