My employer’s bread and butter is black, grey, and beige leather for CUVs, Full-size trucks, and mid-size sedans.
But sometimes we do some custom stuff. We have a good bit of custom stuff coming in the next few weeks. This came in for new leather today:
As in every other CST post I’ve made, the wrinkles will fall out in the next few weeks.
Bonus two-tone black and gray Terrain interior:

The gator stuff feels a little stiff but not bad to sit on. If I had to commute in it like I do Meepster, I’d prefer the quilted diamond stitch. That’s nice and comfy.

This is what I would do:
074 Medium red:
with 618 Sterling piping:
because there’s piping around the seats front and rear:
and then put these logos on them:
in that color scheme. Because yours is silver exterior, right?
And I’d do it for $1000 plus tax. $1072.50

If you were to call my shop, I’d tell you $900 plus tax for a two-row single color car.

Just FYI, the CST shops in other parts of the country may not honor that price. One Oppo ( M-B-W Loves his Subaroo ) has our leather in his Outback. He paid a little more, though, because he had two-tone perforated leather in his.

Oh, that’s fine. I have leather in both my current cars. I was just really curious.
Where is your shop?

In lovely Charlotte, North Carolina. Known primarily for banks, NASCAR, and that’s about it.

Hah! I like Charlotte. Bought a car there a couple years ago.

Wow- that’s extremely reasonable! The last quote I got was $1,200/seat for a Saab 900 that I bought for $750.

That’s probably for new factory parts. Ours is aftermarket by the kit.

Nope... independent upholstery shop in Florida. The guy’s work didn’t look that great, either.

That sounds about right to cut and sew a new interior from scratch, though.

How long does an install take? I’m contemplating an “plan” and my in laws live outside of Charlotte.
I’m absolutely want leather on my TDI replacement due to munchkins but as I am looking at lease turn ins not having to go top trim to get it from the factory could work.

What are you considering? If the leather is in one of our warehouses we can get it in a day, and then it only takes about 2-3 hours for the installation.
If it needs to be made, then think 3-4 days to have it sewn up and shipped to us.

I’m looking CX-5s likely a 2014 or 2015, Mazda only does leather on the grand touring and those aren’t super common off lease. The mid level touring is super common but only comes with cloth interior.

We have those in the warehouse now actually.

Steve, what is the effort like to add a bit of extra cushion in the seat of a GTI already covered with leather? There are drawbacks to being overly skinny, apparently. This is the third car I’ve had a problem with, although it took longer to develop than the others.
