I pick it up this Thursday, so I’m excited. The only thing that pisses me off is that I have to wait at all. I also realized my birthday is this week, so this is essentially a present to myself.
I think I bought at the right time since my budget can handle this purchase, and it’s going to be a lot more car than my outgoing Hyundai. For those of you that don’t know, it’s basically a Veloster Turbo but in a regular 5-door hatch format instead of the weird 3.5 door thing the Veloster has going on.
So, I got a new car, and it’s Thanksgiving this weekend (for us canucks), so all in all it’s shaping up to be a good week.

Congrats!
Also how does it drive performance wise? I’m curious because I haven’t driven anything younger than 10 years old in a long time. And I think at some point soon in my life I’m going to have to stop DDing 25 year old Hondas :(
Maybe I’ll do some of what that one guy did and go take test drives of random economy cars...

Congrats my friend! Nice to see more of us on the South Korean ‘shitbox that isn’t all that shitty any more’ side of things :P

Congrats!
I asked the salesman at the local Kia dealer about one of these and his response was a terse, “I’ve never seen one of those.” Wasn’t in any way interested in anything but moving base model cars to people with bad credit. It was very disappointing because the Forte5 Turbo seems like a cool hatch.

Do it. There are some great compact cars out there right now.

I used to own a Forte Koup, loved it. I’m sure you’ll like the new Forte 5. Make sure to post pics!

On my test drive it was a lot of straights rather than corners, so I played with the throttle and shift paddles a bunch. It’s a quick car, but that’s coming from someone whose fastest ever car was his dad’s Lexus (hint: it wasn’t an LFA, it was a hybrid).
The only thing that took getting used to was the steering feel. It’s pretty light, and I couldn’t feel much of a difference between the three steering modes. It was more comfortable than my Accent where you feel everything through the steering, whether it’s the understeer, road imperfections, and the engine idling away. The feel is still more natural in my Accent, although I suspect that’s because it’s the only car I’ve really driven for 8 years.
On the few corners I took, it was easy enough to drive. I’ll have to play around with it more after I pick it up Thursday. For the first time in a very long time I’ll be going for a drive for the sake of driving.

Surprisingly less shitty. Great thing is that I think they’ll do better and better in the next few years, especially if Hyundai ever makes that N30 (or i30N) hot hatch.

First dealer I went to seemed surprised that I asked for it and pretty much immediately said they didn’t have one, although they did have the Koup turbo. The second place where I bought my F5 only had one and it was in that nice white pearl paint. I don’t think any others were available since the first dealer said he couldn’t find one at all, and I wasn’t picky about colour.
I think the 2017 ones are due out very soon so they’re probably just running out, given the nice rebates going on. The 2017 one looks good and comes with a DCT - I’m curious how it’ll be since the DCT can be very clunky if not implemented correctly (from what I’ve read, anyway).

I hadn’t heard about the DCT, that could be cool if it’s good.
