So, after a rather long night, we first managed to get him to eat a few grams of food around 4am. Then nothing until noon... We kept trying but nope, not eating, not drinking. Keep in mind he is severly malnourished also, weighting probably around 4lbs in spite of being almost of adult size... But when noon arrived, as I tried to feed him again, holy shit did he start eating like hell! First he managed to eat from my finger, then did it once again to finally eat the whole plate next him and drinking like a mofo too.
So I set up a “surveillance camera” (laptop skypeing straight to my desktop :) ) next to him, ready to climb up when he wakes up because it will certainly be very poopy around there.
He also tried to clean up himself a little bit which is very good news too! His chances of survival and now much, much higher than yesterday :)

Before we got him, our cat Vader was not eating. They put him in with Yoda’s litter (our other cat) and Yoda starting fucking with him, and he started eating. Three and a half years since we got them, and they are both doing great. Your cat will get well ...

He just ate a little bit more a few minutes ago

Haha nice duo! Hopefully he gets back in good shape like that soon. Then it will be time to try and make sure his cat AIDS doesn’t show up... Apparently treatment somewhat exist, albeit expensive and solely distributed in the states, but i should get my hands on that...

My sister and her husband foster Great Danes. One of their foster dogs was brought into the shelter malnourished. She would hardly eat any of her food. Luckily by the time she was adopted, she had fattened up a bit. It was scary though, because at the beginning her rib cage was showing.
She was the sweetest dog in the world. I desperately wanted to adopt her.

Good to hear. Eating is a great sign. We recently had to feed one of ours with a baby food with a syringe for several days. She made it. We thought it was all over, but once she got hydrated and got food in her, she pulled through. She’s of unknown age, but is at least 14 or 15 years old.
Keep us posted.

If you have any questions about sick cat care, I may be of some help. More specifically, Lady SonicGabe; she has a vast knowledge of feline care and has saved many. We have a neighborhood feral colony and have rescued many kittens, got them healthy and sent them on for adoption (all in the colony have finally been TVNR’d!). We’ve dealt with cuts, infections, sniffles, a BB lodged in the skin, dehydration, malnourishment, parasites... anyway, she knows her stuff and might be able to offer some tips to help get your kitty healthy. Maybe she can help, but obviously consult your vet as often as you can.
Also, we have a friend who has a cat with kitty herpers. It lives and interacts with their other cats. Not sure if the kitty is on daily maintenance meds or what, but they don’t have any issues. I’m going to reach out to them tomorrow to find out what the deal is. Maybe it’ll be of some help to you.

This one was actually about the size of a fully-grown Labrador.

Right now, we just follow the vet’s orders... 2 different antibiotics drops in his eyes (in both even if he really just has one) and tomorrow, we’re going back to see him to take care of his foot. His nose seem to be a bit better and runs a bit less, but he still struggles to breath normally. When he sleeps he seems to breathe a bit better though.
As for food, soft vitamined food also recommended by the vet along with constant surveillance.
Since I have another cat, I’d be curious to see how your friend managed with him and what he/she had to do :)
Thanks man!

Good news! Good luck and thanks for the update me and mrs vondon was talking about your cat last nite at dinner. My mother in law heard us and said a little prayer it was sweet.

If the cat has lost a bunch of weight in a short time, be sure to watch it closely for jaundice. Cats have a hard time coping with rapid weight loss and it can cause organ failure.

Haha, thanks a lot man, I really appreciate, and I say that in spite of being of complete and utter atheist, I can’t thank you enough for the nice thoughts. Again: thank you!

It wasn’t rapid or anything... He was a street cat up until 36h ago. Herpes, being so young, missing one eye, no food around and so on made him like that. But he is recovering, slowly but surely :)

Np believe me I’m not the praying type.It might even of been one of her subversive ways to turn me to the church but sweet none the less. Best of luck again.

I asked (emailed as they live far away) about the herpes thing, but haven’t heard back yet.
