Went To cruiser outfitters BBW again, it was again a great meal. I’m always impressed the owner remembers my name right off the bat, he’s got a lot going on and I’m not that big a blip on his radar.

There were a LOT more Toyota’s and cruisers after I took these pictures, I would guess 100+
Went outside today, it was a nice day. Got a nice “nobody suspects the penguin” picture of my daughter, in a penguin costume, in a firetruck.

If that Pickup (first pic) wasn’t influenced by early 60s Ford trucks I’ll eat my shoe!
Looks like an awesome time!

Looks like good weekend fun! I got a thumbs up while driving the Cougar today from a gent in a really clean 80. I returned the favor. They are just a very classic, timeless design.

All of Toyota’s early stuff was VERY heavily domestic influenced, to the point of...um...flattery. And intentionally so.
In fact, the Land Cruiser up until 1992 was running a version of the Chevy Stovebolt I6. Originally it was chosen because it was a safe bet that wouldn’t scare people away, then because it proved to be insanely durable is stuck around.

Those Celica’s have always been a favorite of mine, but the American influence was nothing I ever knew about, though, looking at it now, Duh! Thanks for pointing that out.
