So I’ve got NOFX tickets for early November. Bad religion and face to face are both coming to town in late October, but in the same week. Very tempted to get tickets for both. What do you all think?

Bad religion were unfortunately a bit disappointing when I saw them. May have just caught them on a bad day, but they just lacked energy which was a shame. Ive always liked their music.

It’s been years since I’ve seen either, but I would go to both. Not sure if Face to Face has slowed down since they’ve gotten older, but the one time I caught their pre-hiatus lineup back around 2000 their live show seemed to have a lot more energy than the albums. Bad Religion is always a must see. They can be somewhat clinical and sort of lacking energy for a punk band but they are pros who play with precision live.

It’s only like $60 for both. I’ll probably do that.

I’ve seen bad religion a few times and they were definitely worth seeing. Never seen face to face though, but have heard they’re great live.

I’ve seen them a few times. They can definitely lack energy but the crowd usually doesn’t and the music sounds fantastic.

Yeah they did sound good to be fair. I think the problem was when I saw them it was at a Heavy Rock/Metal and Punk festival so they seemed a bit flat in comparison to a lot of the other stuff there.

Both. This song has been in my head all day:

and now that you mention face to face... This popped in...

But $40 a ticket for a punk show in Charlotte is steep. Although I’d love to meet Dr. Graffin...

Bad Religion. Plus they’ll have Against Me! on tour with them. We’ll be seeing them in St Pete on the 12th.

But fuck it, do both.

We’ve got a busy concert month. Next week is The Posies (first Florida show in 25 years). The week after is Bad Religion/Against Me!. Then a week and half later is one of the Pre-Fest shows, of which the line-up is Propagandhi, Strike Anywhere, A Wilhelm Scream, Knapsack, Samiam, and Small Brown Bike.

Gonna be a fun month.

Definitely thinking I’ll do both. It is that time of year where all the tours really get going.

Strike anywhere! I haven’t seen them in forever!

October is pretty bonkers for tours. In my former life as a music journalist, back in October 2010, I had to attend, photograph, and write a review for 16 concerts in 18 days that were split between Tampa, St Pete, and Orlando.

Go to show at night. Get home really late and edit photos. Take a nap. Get up at 7am to write the review and have it filed by 10 or 11am. Wait around for an hour in case my editor had any questions or needed me to make a change. Sleep until 4 or 5pm. Shower and eat. Go to show at night.

About halfway through, coming home from Orlando for the second night in three days, there was a horrible, fatal wreck on I-4 that closed it completely down. Should have been home by 1am, didn’t get home until 6am. Didn’t have a night off for three or four nights after that. I don’t remember what the last show of the 16 was, but I remember starting the review by explaining that I was out of adjectives.

October is pretty bonkers for tours.

I saw them last year and they were energetic and sounded great, so perhaps it was just an off night? They’re not as young as they once were (none of us are).
