Not for me, but for a friend who’s been cycling to work all summer and wants a car again before the rain really sets in.

160k miles, american import for some reason I guess. “Car not start”

But, $500. That’s a seriously clean car for $500. Just gotta figure out the not starting thing...

Well he’s by no means set on buying it, I just figured it was worth looking at in person and seeing if the not starting is something obvious. If it seems like too much of a risk I’ll steer him away from it. I remember you saying that by now, these ones are starting to have old-age issues

Certainly possible. Just don’t let your friend become too attached.

Real life just happened example. Guy buys old non-running AMG for $2500. Car will crank but only periodically backfire. Long story short, he already put another $2500 into fixing it but still needs $3500 more just to get it running. It was the weirdest no start diagnosis I’ve ever done. The point being, for what he paid and still needs to spend to get it running he could have bought an immaculate running version of the same car.

Maybe I’ll make a post later. I don’t want to be too specific and call someone out, because it will be fairly obvious to anyone who knows the person. So I’ll give it a few days at least, and still leave the model out.

I can with almost 95% certainty that the reason this car won’t start is because of the distributor cap and rotor or the OVP relay. Them both brand new are less than $200

(I’ve had 6 190e’s over the last 2 year )
