"Grindintosecond" (Grindintosecond)

Dropped the kid off at school. Out front was this car. Red, SS Camaro. I filled with meh. I was not impressed. I remember seeing a cool Mustang, Corvette, Trans-Am or something like that in front of my grade school or high school back in the day and, “Wow” was my thoughts. Great car. Aweosme. Now? Meh. Have I become a cynical adult?

That’s because the older ones were cool. The new ones are not.

Nah that's pretty normal, Camaros are crap. I usually get alittle sad when I see one.

You just know where they fit on the total automotive scale now. I remember thinking my babysitter was super rich because she had a white Mustang convertible. I also remember when my mom bought her Camry in 2003 (I would have been 13 or 14) and the dealer had an MR2 Spyder out front. I thought for sure that thing was pretty much a Japanese Lambo. Hell, back in 2010, my girlfriend-at-time’s brother came out to visit her and he had what I now realize must have been a G35 or G37. Thought, damn this guy must have a crazy good job.
I didn’t get into cars until about three years ago, so it’s amazing how meh I am towards cars. I did see a 458 yesterday though! That is literally the newest and most expensive vehicle I have seen in my state.

I’m the same way, pony car...meh (most of the time anyway)
Cars are like people for me. The older I get, the less of them that I consider to be truly “good”.

You may be coming down with Buzz-Killington. Get it checked out asap before you buy a Camry.

A 2015 Camaro SS is not a cool car. A 1973 Camaro SS is a cool car.

Both cool cars, but the 15 is cooler.

That’s how I feel. I use to think Corvettes and Mustangs were the best thing available short of true exotics. Now I know they were both (late 90's) just the embodiment of mediocrity.

A 1973 Camaro SS is a slow 245HP crapcan. The only good Second Gen Camaros are the '70 and '71. Urethane bumpers = bad. Also I would argue that the 2010-2013 arent as good looking as the 2014-15 models. Because retro is always a bad styling choice.

When was the last time your cool meter was calibrated? It seems to be off.

Currently set at maximum awesome.
You however need to check your go-fast meter.

The fact that it’s a sports car at a school means it’s at least a little awesome. I can’t wait for my kid to go forward-facing.

Dont forget about the big brakes, magnetic ride, aero bits, HD drivetrain, 7:41 ring time, etc etc.
That 69 is a base Camaro with an aluminum 427. Also very nice.
This here is a 2015 Z/28

For me, I think it’s like the difference between this:
(classic muscle car)
And this:
(new camaro)
Yeah, the second guy can lift like a million more pounds, but come on.
Edit: Thank you Kinja, for the awesome formatting and placement of captions near the intended image.

Those all sound fancy, but I don’t understand the bit about the Harley Davidson drivetrain.

Yes, and thanks, I’m also a big fan of bright ass yellow in general. A coworker has a matching 1LE in red, but I like how they look in white with the black accents too.

Roll up in a supra and school would be cancelled. Muscle cars are for old people.

The Pre-refresh camaros look pretty meh, but I actually quite like the look of the refreshed 1le and up models.
I saw the new 2016 model at the LA Auto Show, and I thought it looked pretty striking. I’m not sure how it will age though.
