The greatest feature that we haven’t seen in AAA racing titles has finally arrived!!! Now you can make your own race track and race it on Gran Turismo 6!!!

Now I can turn my hair-drawn racing circuits (I have two coming up) into a real, driveable thing!!!

I think this is a redeeming feature, until they take it worldwide, that is.

GT6 Track Path Editor:

The GT6 Track Path Editor is an application for PlayStation®3 title Gran Turismo 6 that enables the user to create his or her own drivable course. The app allows you to choose the scenery of your choice, as well as letting you chart your own driving path—it even lets you trace maps or driving paths of real life routes. There’s also a function to include a variety of course-related objects into your custom track such as curbing. Once the course is completed, it can be transferred to Gran Turismo 6 and sampled in Arcade Mode, Open Lobby, and in your Communities. In order to drive the completed tracks, you must have a PlayStation®3 console connected to the internet, a copy of Gran Turismo 6, and the SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) account you are using for Gran Turismo 6.

Description of Features

The following steps describe the course data creation process of the Track Path Editor:

1: Select a Theme

Select the geography/scenery of the course from four different themes.

2: Layout Mode

Chart the course line that will be the route for the road surface. You can also set the road width and corner bank angles.

3: Item Mode

Place trees, billboards and other items along the course.

4: Curbing Mode

You can place curbing along the course line. (*This mode may not be available in some cases.)

5: Export

Export the created course data to Gran Turismo 6.

6: Test Drive

Test drive the created track using the Gran Turismo 6’s “Track Path Importer“ tool, and save as a user generated track.

Other improvements and adjustments

– Penalties have been disabled in “Free Run” mode.

– With the addition of the “GT6 Track Path Editor”, the maximum length of best lap replays that can be loaded in the Data Logger has been set to 20 minutes.

– The engine sounds of certain cars have been improved.

Wait for it until it’s not borked anymore, then download the app ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) and try it if the app works as advertised. If it does, I might just get a PS3.

Now how about Forza? If they can come up with something like this, but for PC and Surface, I’ll have one.

Is it finally happening? I traded in my PS3. Got tired of waiting and the stream of VGT cars (and not real cars) was starting to get old. I have Forza 6 now. I miss certain things about GT6 but not the game as a whole.

Well, think about this: you can make the one circuit that you’ve been imagining. The fast L-R corners, the big sweepers, the technical bits, the long straights. Back then only Trackmania held that power, and even that game is rather limited in terms of blocks. The GT6 editor, if it works (IF) can open up a whole new world of possibilities and challenges. Fancy combining the esses at Bathurst with the ones at Suzuka? Oh yes you can (maybe). How about Parabolica and Copse ? That’d be a wicked-fast combo. Or combine Istanbul Park’s Turn 8 with 130R, Old Tamburello, the big, banked turns at Daytona and Sochi’s T3 for a huge 9-apex centrifuge, or string all the Tilkean hairpins and put Fairmont and La Source on either end for some crazy switchback action.

The track editor is the single most powerful feature and tool any racing game can have. If the GT6 one works as advertised (please do), boy you’d be back in it.

I did realize that I sounded like selling the feature to you, so forget all that I said and try it for yourself.

Yeah and it’s a feature that was advertised at the beginning but it’s taken two years to actually make it to the game? No thanks. I moved on.
