Not impressed. I saw a guy on the Silverado article that got 35mpg over the course of 25 miles

This is why we no longer hire the Patriots to inflate our tires.

the VW trip computers are notoriously inaccurate with short distances. for example, I got mine down to 14.2 MPG average over he course of 55 miles of going to school and back every day for like 2 weeks

Mine has been really close. And how is 40 miles a short trip? O.o

40 miles is pretty short IMO.... I mean I put about 17 k miles on my car in 13 months, and I’m in high school, and have a total necessary daily commute of 2 miles.
doing 100-200 miles in a day just for the heck of it isn't an uncommon thing for me, so I guess that's why I consider a 40 mile trip short

My commute is 40 miles one way, so that’s 80 miles just from doing that. And on weekends we tend to go out and travel a bit. I put about the same number of yearly miles on mine.

hmmm okay....
I'd suggest looking at the other MPG thingy then, the one that measures it over a greater distance, and doesn't reset every time the car's been off for a bit. I tend to get much more accurate readings from that after driving a few hundred miles

That one is up to 32. And every day it clones a bit more. I would imagine it should be pretty high pretty soon. It’s only been 3 weeks since my reflash. And only 5 days since I re-inflated my tires.

what PSI are you running? I use a few PSI under the suggested limit to get more grip from my rubber, so that probably results in worse mileage....
I also tend to have a lead foot :)
