For the first time in a very long time I had a job interview, albeit over the phone as I live a 6 hour drive away. I do my job very well and love what I do. I consider myself great with people as it’s a large part of my job but I feel like Volkswagen.

I prepared, I studied, I’ve been sending resumes out like a mad man spending time to tailor each one and waking up early to have the time to work on them. I made sure I knew about the company, about myself and how to answer all the questions and somehow I bonked. I collapsed and couldn’t get back up. I struggled to keep flow, let alone get answers out and came off knowing nothing. I don’t know what came over me but I’m really disappointed with myself right now.

Anyways some Bimmers and Trucks would help get my mind back off of things if you have the time. Thanks :)

I’ve always really liked this car. Only thing I don’t like is how far down the bed hangs behind the rear wheel. Those lines don’t match with the sides :(

I agree with you, it’s not ideal, but I think it’s about the best he could do. I met the builder of it at the Trucks at Carlisle show a few years ago. It’s a box stock Colorado bed and he modified it to fit.

I know that feel, bro. Cheer up, and shake the dust off. You may not have done as badly as you think.

The top one is in the U.S., the middle one I don’t know but the last is a repair shop car in the U.K.

I know that feel bro. I almost completely froze a few times during oral exams and presentations (similar situations if you think about it). It was like the auto pilot took over and I could watch myself from outside thinking “wow that dude is screwed” yet nothing I could do about it.

As for the job interviews, I went to a couple where I wasn’t too sure whether I wanted the job anyways so there wasn’t really anything at stake and I felt no pressure so I could really perform. Got the offers, turned them down, which boosted my confidence as well as giving me a basic knowledge of what to expect. In the end they all ask the same questions and want to the same things, one way or another. It is time consuming but it’s good practice.

Godspeed for the next one!

I really respect and admire his work on that car. 10/10 would daily.

Any articles online that show how he attached the bed to the car? I've only seen 3/4 shots like this but never seen any build pictures.

I don’t think any articles exist on it. Frankly I’m a bit miffed at how he did it, myself. I wish I had asked him more questions when I met him at Carlisle.

Well I think anyone would rather have the M car. But the 330i based car was done by a guy in his home garage, and it’s pretty damn impressive. I believe the 330 was originally his wife’s car and it got tagged when someone ran a light and hit her. He and his father were working on a project, swapping an old International or something onto a modern frame, and had bought the Colorado as a donor. Since he had the bed, and the 330 was basically totaled in the ass end, he figured why the hell not. Sometimes you just gotta work with what you got.

I met the owner/builder and he did the whole car himself, in his garage. The 330 was his wife’s car and someone ass-ended it. He and his father were working on swapping an old truck body onto a modern frame and bought a Colorado as a donor, so he had the bed sitting there doing nothing. Sometimes you just gotta work with what you got.

Oh, no doubt — it looks like it’s done very well, which is fairly rare when looking at frankenstein cars like this.
