Something occurred to me recently. Thatbastardkurtis recently said:

“I still find it awfully odd how Ferdinand Piech (the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, and nephew to Ferry Porsche) was ousted 5 months ago, and he wanted Matthias Muller (Porsche CEO since 2010, and who I believe he had groomed) from Porsche as his successor. When he was not picked he was very upset ... And then conveniently this Dieselgate issue pops up, and so Winterkorn had to resign, and now it looks like Matthias Muller will replace him.”

And that got me thinking... Could it also be that Piech, through indirect sources, “helped” this scandal along to fuck over VW and his rivals?

Could he be that vindictive?

Oh he definitely could do something like this.

But wasn’t the diesel issue for models that would have been designed back when he was CEO? The only way this makes sense is if he had some control over whether or not the EPA would discover, and when, the test cheating.

DieselGate started when the International Council on Clean Transportation , a non-profit organization that promotes hippie-friendly vehicles, provided funding and resources to scientists at West Virginia University to test VW diesels, in the hopes that an independent test would show just how great and wonderful VW diesels actually are.

When the WVU scientists found the cars to be polluting significantly more than the EPA standards, ICCT turned over the test data to the EPA and the investigation continued from there.

So unless Piech was the one who told ICCT to commission the study in the first place...

It was pretty much my first thought. Expect to see him back by year end.
