You know it won't be cheap, because:

Step 1: replace water pump

Electrical tape is always a cheap fix for pesky lights.

BMW does black plastic really well.

Can you please, please, please shut the fuck up about that stupid water pump? I’ve been driving the car for 6 months and haven’t seen any sort of puddle or leaking or anything abnormal to where I need to even think about replacing it. I’m really sick and tired of hearing about it.

To my knowledge the powertrain is extremely healthy.

Good thing because they made the whole interior out of it.

Maybe you’ll get lucky, and you can train one powertrain for the other.

P1188 = Fuel Control (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
Not sure what to think.

If you replaced it you wouldn’t have to hear about it anymore...

My tan interior is a bit faded. Are dash mats still considered tacky?

It. Doesn’t. Need. To. Be. Replaced.
That's it, end of story.

My dad still has one, if that counts for anything.

Typically a fuel control code is related to fuel trim, either the car went really rich or really lean. If you have a scanner to pull your STFT (short-term fuel trim) numbers, you can figure out whether you’re going rich or lean and what to do about it. It could be a dying o2 sensor, a vacuum leak, or (unlikely) a fuel leak...it could also be an injector or fuel pump, but I find that hard to believe if you haven’t had driveability issues.

I think he’s referring to your kidneys.

Could you imagine having to go all Walter White just to get your car repaired? I can, and it’s more comedy than
Breaking Bad.

Check the air intake elbow for rips/tears.
Also, check Oil seperator hose (the lower one that drains to dipstick) for rip, break.
Either of these can cause vacuum leak and/or a fuel/air issue.

Just got done doing that, nothing out of the norm. I’m starting to think it was just a false light.

Except that water pump.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 18:06 |

It has to do with your O2 sensors.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 19:41 |

Have you checked the water pump?
(*ducks, and runs for the door* )
![]() 09/24/2015 at 20:20 |

Did you scan it?
![]() 09/24/2015 at 20:51 |

I don't think you can put Seafoam in a ///M, so you should probably be hoping for a dying 02 sensor, because you'll never find a vacuum leak...
