Today is the first day of Autumn, but you wouldn’t know it here in Central Texas, where the temperature is still 90 degrees. We’ll have to wait about two more months for some real cool weather. El Niño can’t come fast enough.

This is the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway around Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. I’ve never driven it, but it sure looks nice.

If it makes you feel any better it’s still up at 78* here in Michigan right now.

I’m just glad it’s out of the triple digits, and back into the lower 90’s again. Makes it much more pleasant to work in the garage.

78? Hell, I’ll take it. How’s the humidity? It’s only about 41% right now, but that’s low for these parts.

It does, but the sun is still brutal. We were in San Antonio two weeks ago for a soccer tournament and I got burned pretty bad. It was miserable. I’m glad it wasn’t me who was doing the playing.

Yeah, I get high UV warnings on my tablet every day. I’m just glad it’s not 3000*F in the shade is all, I can deal with the other by staying in the shade or using tons of sunscreen.

Still 73 and sunny in VT.

Last year at this point, it was peak foliage. This year, still all green. Maybe another 3-4 weeks before the roads are jammed with mindless retirees.

I’m less than 2 miles from the BRP. Trees aren’t quite like that yet. Beautiful non the less.

I was not bummed to leave Austin last week, purely because of the temperature and humidity. That was some hard, hard work.

I used to live in VA, and went to school at JMU. I miss those mountains desperately.

That picture was taken 20 minutes before the Viaduct was opened and immediately became the semi-permanent parking lot for every creaking Winnebago on the East Coast.

It’s a gorgeous stretch of road, but you’ll have trouble averaging 25MPH over any kind of distance from Sept - Nov.

I can’t wait for it to drop out of the 80s soon. I don’t like heat.

Abnormally cool for Birmingham. Normally we see 90+ this time of year, but the hottest temperature this week is supposed to be 86 and it dips down to a 73 degree high on Friday!

Yeah it was very nice in April! Warm enough weather for top down (like legitimately, not my definition of “above 0 degrees is warm”) and very few other cars on the road. Especially early morning on a weekday. I drove about 40 miles on the BRP starting in Asheville going north without seeing a single car!
