Last week !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , that sucked for actual driving. So I sent them back and got these Born Marcus driving loafers. Very comfortable, nice padding on the inside and super grippy rubber bottoms for heel-toe action. 10/10 would hoon with them again.

This is my 5th or 6th pair of Born dress shoes, it’s a good brand that stands by their product. I had one pair that wore out on the inside in 6 months. Born sent me another pair. Just an FYI, they run big. I normally take a 10 or 10.5, but I need a 9.5 for the right fit in Born shoes.

My favorite non-driving specific driving shoe at the moment. I don’t have to wear dress shoes anymore so that’s a + for me.

I don’t know, loafers to me don’t = driving shoes. that and flip flops.

My favorite is the Puma Drift Cat 5 for driving.

Warning: these are not for those with wide or even average width feet. I have narrow feet and found them to be very tight and almost uncomfortable until I got them stretched out and broken in. Now they fit like a glove and are super comfortable.

The soles are super narrow on them, so there is absolutely no overhang on the sides of your foot, and the bottom is grippy, with a nice rounded heel.

Never owned Clarks or Born Marcus, but I’ve become extremely partial to Sperry driving loafers.....like to the point that I’ve got 3 pairs in different colors. I’ve noticed the same thing about sizing with them that you mentioned with the Born ones, but I’m just glad that they run narrow enough for my foot, they are honestly the first loafers I’ve ever been able to actually wear due to my narrow feet and heels .

I like Sperry as well...I have two sets of boat style shoes, and they make for great drivers as well. I needed something black and “dressy” so I went with these.

I’ve got these to fill that role. I wear them to work more days than not.

Check out this video of Senna heel-toeing the NSX around Suzuka in loafers, then:

Also, to be pedantic, these are not loafers. They’re moccasins (specifically driving moccasins, based on the way the rubber wraps around the heel and the general shape). Loafers, like regular dress shoes, have a lifted and distinct heel. Moccasins do not, and often are just one piece of leather forming the sole and sides of the shoe :)

Style is inherently subjective and ever-changing, so take the following with a grain of salt! It’s commonly recommended by people who care about such things to save black for your formal shoes (the oxford lace-ups that you would wear with a tux, or with a black suit in a formal business setting, or at an inauguration). For more casual shoes such as these, brown is recommended because it’s inherently casual, being not-black, and because it’s harder to match black shoes. I personally like brown because it’s a lighter color, it doesn’t weigh down the bottom of your outfit too much.

But your style should be about that *you* think looks good, not what other people think, so do what you want. I just wanted to raise a suggestion in case you hadn’t considered it!

Cheers, from a fellow Tom

I hear you...most of my work clothes would be described as “business casual” polos/button down shirts, khakis etc...some of my colors go better with brown shoes, some black. So I like to have both.
