How many of you have beaten your car/truck/van/SUV’s EPA fuel economy figures? I’ve surpassed them in my car several times.

The EPA back in 2008 rated it at 22 city and 29 highway. My average fuel economy with mostly city driving is 25 MPG, and my best all-time fuel economy is 35.4 MPG, of course on a road trip where I drove more slowly than normal.

For calculating my fuel economy, I use !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It’s pretty nifty.

How about you all? What do you see? Better? Worse? The same?

My EPA is 15 city 23 highway. I get about 16-17 city and 26-28 highway. With the cruise set at 55 on a flat-as-a-pancake road, I averaged 32.

I soundly beat the mpg in my old 2009 Ranger. I routinely got 28-32 mpg combined. I also got 47 mpg once in the Fiat. This Optima, though... I have been getting only 24-27 since I got it a few weeks ago. I’m reaching about 29 on this tank, and that’s with me consciously driving gentler. I’m going on a trip this weekend, so we’ll see if I can touch the EPA’s crazy estimate of 35 hwy.

Define beat? I constantly match my highway mpg while always going considerably faster than posted limits.

My dad’s TL is rated at 20/29 city/highway. He drives about a 70/30 split of highway/city and gets about 27 MPG. Not bad for a 3800 lb. luxury sedan with 280 hp and a relatively outdated engine.

Typically upper 30’s and sometimes in the 40’s.

I actually had to google it & I've beat 44 a couple times.

I’ve gotten 30 mpg with extreme difficulty at 65 mph in 6th gear with no AC at 96° and my intergrated power inverter charging my iPhone. EPA-28. This was crucial as I had a overdrawn card and I spent all my cash on the Laguna Seca Historic Race, and I had to drive back on 9/16ths of a tank...

My EPA is 23/30/26.

I average 28-30 depending on traffic because it’s mostly a commuter.

Worst I ever got on a tank was 25, delivering pizzas, on Thanksgiving weekend.
