To trade the Shitroen Crapso for this Micra. It’s hideous but it’s cheap and should be reliable, I’m sick of fixing his junk cars at this point.

You can rarely go wrong with a Micra especially as they don’t convert themselves to ferric oxide at quite the feverish rate they used to.

Yeah he literally just needs an A-B car to get to work (if there was public transport available to get him to work he’d just take that) so one of these will do fine. I’m a little stuck between the K11 and K12 though. The K12 doesn’t rust as bad but seems to have more common issues like timing chain failure. I can’t tell whether these issues are actually common or just internet overreaction.

Without wishing to be a doom and gloom bastard, if the fix was so simple, why wouldn’t the seller have done it? he’d get more for the car with it working fine. feels slightly like a ‘just needs a regas’ to me, sorry. FWIW i got very badly burned on a used car sale a few years ago, so i assume a seller is just lying to me as a default. makes me a very cynical person when it comes to buying a new car.
I had a friend who had one of these that had done maybe 120,000 i think, and she got 2 years and about another 30,000 out of it before i think the head gasket (but might not have been, my memory isn’t great) killed it.

It was going to get an extremely thorough inspection, but a friend of mine actually bought an old non running Micra and some new sensors did fix it so it is possible it’s genuine.
I have found that the K12s seem to be less reliable, so I’m starting the daunting task of finding a K11 with no rust. Even then it’ll be getting a nice thick undercoat.
