Replaced my Caliper Sunday, and all is right in the braking world. Took it for a drive and the clutch pedal was juddering a bit. Clutching in was making more noise than normal.

Today the juddering is HORRIBLE, the noise is 10x worse, and I only have an inch or two of pedal travel now. The clutch engages right off the floor, and the transmission doesn’t want to go into gear very well.

But it cruises nice once in gear. I’ll just never stop again, Ever.

Time for a new beater. I ain’t pulling transes out of Camries.

Isn’t it redundant to say “in peace” after RIP? It’s like saying Rest in peace in peace.

Sorry to see the Camry go. Let the car hunt begin!

wut? With a lift and the proper cheap aftermarket clutch parts, the job shouldn’t last more than a couple hours.

We had the clutch done on our Corolla for about $600. Smooth as butter now, totally worth it.

Its the V6, I’m sure a lot of stuff has to come out. And at 242,000 miles and needing a timing belt, I would need to do that too, or might as well. I’m just DONE wrenching on cars. I’m getting to old for this shit.

Is it a hydraulic clutch? And don’t those sometimes have a common reservoir with the brakes? So maybe you just got air in the line while doing the brakes and need to bleed everything?

Or just kill it with fire and order up a Focus RS.

V6 and 5 speed? Rare combo. I’d fix it should cost around $500 to $800.

Yeah but while I have it apart I’d do the timing belt that’s overdue, fix the exhaust, and I just don’t want to spend the money and time on this car anymore.

Play with the clutch pedal pushrod and see if it engages any better. Along with the slave fluid as well of course.

The fluid is good. Surprisingly now that it’s been sitting its driving and shifting fine.... except for the hellacious squeal from the t/o bearing that the whole neighborhood just heard.

Ah, well worse case scenario part it out on the Toyota Nation website. Someone is always looking to grab those E153 transmissions along with other bits.

Oh did I mention what I think is input shaft bearing noise? lol

All the bearings are gonna go kaboom! Man I hate those little bearings, so cheap yet so costly to repair due to labour involved. My TOB costed me $1000 in my Subaru, and my input shaft bearing on my Civic let go as well. Luckily I sold the Civic rather than doing the repair on a car with 365,000kms on the original clutch.

I helped a friend do his Subaru 5-speed... it wasn’t so bad. I shudder at the thought of ripping apart a FWD trans to replace a bearing.

I avoid clutch jobs, especially without having a lift. I’d rather pay someone else to deal with that stress. I still have a dilemma of doing the spark plugs on my Legacy GT.

I had the trans out of my Legacy so many times it became a piece of cake. Compared to a FWD car though, with a big tilted V6? Nuh uh. It’s a 7+ hour job according to AllData.
