Jumped it and let it run for 20 minutes. It didn’t look like it was charging but I needed to go to work so I took off. I only got about 100 ft (30 meters) down the road before it died and I coasted to a stop on my neighbors yard. Probably the alternator.

Luckily it did not die on the 1:30 trip I took with my son the other day that would have been lots of fun.

Bullmobile was towed to the shop and my wife brought me to work.

Make sure to test the battery, too. My Porsche kept dying, turned out the brand new battery was a dud.

Meh, I’ve had to replace the alt on my E38 twice.

At least yours is not water-cooled and needing to evacuate the radiator to replace it.

Yeah, a suspension hose came loose somewhere in front of the front right wheel, it actually shouldn’t be too expensive, unless it's the strut itself

I’m not going to be fixing it. It went to a local shop that I trust. Had to get work for the man.

Add that to the list of reasons to never own German Engineering...

German Engineering: cleverly solving problems that were created by the last clever solution. To a problem that didn’t exist.

I had a Sable many moons ago. When its alternator died there was almost no warning. My sister and I were rolling down the street toward home when the radio suddenly turned off. I thought “that was weird”, started to roll up the windows and they stopped working just before they all closed. When we pulled into a space, the car was just dead before we even put it in park. Not once did the battery light come on. Good times.

Yup, drove it all day and parked it. The next day I turn the key and nothing.

That sucks. This morning I got in my car, turned the key 1 quick crank and CLICK. Everything went black and only the airbag and oil light turned on. I got out, disconnected the positive battery cable, and then reconnected it. I got in and she fired right up.

Very weird as all my radio presets were still there and my trip meter hadn’t reset.

Never had this issue before with the car, but you never know when it wants to act up.
