I was driving around the city on a road I don’t normally take and there is was in all its golden beauty. A Volvo 262C Bertone. As soon as we saw it my wife told me. “You need to buy that!”. I tested the seller but haven’t heard back yet. There was no info at all just a for sale sign with a number.

Does any one know how much these are worth? I have no clue at all.

The 262C has a nice interior, but the B27 is a boat anchor... Seriously, they had major head lubrication issues, due to undersized oil galleys, which meant the cams would wear from sorta egg-shaped lobes, to plain circles... Plus, K-Jet sucks.

If you get one, LS swap it, or swap in a 3.0 V6 from a late ‘80s Dodge Monaco/Eagle Premier (Same PRV engine, but with some serious refinements.)

That, and they loved to rust under the vinyl top, and where the Italians welded the chopped roof back on. If you /really/ want a Bertone-designed Volvo, look for a 780. More reliable, rustproof and available with a B230 turbo.

Look closely for rust around the stainless trim at the bottom of the C pillar. Even on the ones without vinyl tops, they loved to rust there.

Remember, that part was welded in Italy...

From 2006, but values should have held:

Looks like many good runners have gone for around $4K over the last 5 years.

This one looks pretty clean but from what I understand they mainly had the hateful PRVs...I think later ones were better but as always when looking at old Volvos the indestructible red blocks which weren’t too shabby in turbo form...I’m not an expert by any means and this might be an especially nice example, but I personally prefer the looks of the 780 Bertone in terms of Italian Volvo coupes...if you find one, run it by your wife...she might like it :)

Get it, if good, and take care of it for a long time - the Jalop code applies in these cases.

I remember seeing one of these at one of my company’s locations with a for-sale sign on it (belonged to one of the employees) about 11-12 years ago. I wanted it then, and I’d still like to have one now that I could afford it.
