Bicyclists, USE THE FUCKIN’ BIKE LANE. That’s what it’s for, and when your riding your bike, RIDE WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. Ride on the right hand side. Use your arm to signal, and don’t dart out in front of a motorist and hope they see you.

Joggers, when you are running in the road right next to a sidewalk GET ON THE FREAKIN’ SIDEWALK! Thats why it was installed. For people to WALK on the SIDE of the road, hence the name SIDE WALK. We truly don’t want an accident. So walk where your supposed to because a car can’t exactly drive on the sidewalk

Thank You,

All Motorists.

I like when they jaywalk at night wearing dark clothes.

I’m not going to say I’m not guilty of some of these, because I am, but if I’m jaywalking, I try to wait until there are like no cars for at least a block either way.

About joggers-

1. Run if you’re actually exercising, otherwise get the fuck out of my way.

2. Actual runners may need to use the side of the (fucking autocorrect) road near the sidewalk if the sidewalk is shitty, or if there are people in the way. Of course, it’s still a terrible idea to run there if there are cars vying for space or if you are an idiot

I actually got sassed at by a bicyclist a few days ago, but she thought I was parking on the bike lane when I was waiting for this one guy to get out from the curb a few seconds later.

The joggers are what get me. Is there something inferior about the sidewalk that you’d rather run on the side of the road, tripping over drainage ditches?

Of course, I’ve also had cyclists blow through stop signs then yell at me because “I need to yield to them” even though we’re considered equals on the road.

What set this off was a cyclist riding on the wrong side of the road and a jogger jogging in the road next to an extremely nice sidewalk, probably better than the road surface itself. And this is on a fairly major thoroughfare in my city. So the sidewalk here was plenty nice.

1. not all roads have bike lanes

2. sometimes cyclists have to make left turns and that requires getting out of the bike lane.

I feel like motorists using their phones or driving distracted are a larger threat to cyclists than cyclists are to anyone.

I honestly don’t know why joggers feel it necessary to run in the road, 90% of the time the sidewalk is nicer than the road its next to. Plus I just plain feel safer on a sidewalk myself than walking on a road I feel like I’m a lot less likely to get sideswiped by a car on the sidewalk than in the bike lane. Especially because half of all motorists aren’t actually looking at the road as they are driving.

Bikers seem to have a self appointed sense of superiority over cars, they often fail to realize I could easily take them out if I was so inclined (I don’t because I’d rather not spend the rest of my life in prison, plus I don’t easily get road rage either).

I understand these circumstances, what set me off today was a cyclist riding the wrong way down a major thoroughfare and a jogger also running the wrong way down the same major throughfare right next to the sidewalk in the bike lane in about a block of each other.

Cyclists can still ride on the correct side of the road whether or not there is a bike lane, and I didn’t address distracted driving up n this article.

Asphalt is easier on the hips/knees/ankles than concrete.

However, that’s not an excuse to jog down a main road.

I see a lot of stupidity from people on bicycles on a daily basis. For whatever reason they seem to think that traffic controls have no authority over them, so they’ll just dart straight through intersections and ride against the flow of traffic as if it were normal.

It’d be nice if the local cops would do something about it.

Joggers are actually supposed to go into traffic. It’s for greater visibility around curves.

About 10 years ago, we had a group of 3 older ladies that would walk around our neighborhood (we live in the suburbs)....problem was they walked down the middle of the street, always wore non reflective clothing and always made motorists wait a good long while until they moved to the side.

The police actually ticketed them for jaywalking once.

One night they were right in front of our house when they were all hit by a young girl who just didn’t see them. One of them was killed, one spent months in the hospital.

Thank God I was an eyewitness to all this- I told the cops that the young lady was going no faster the 20 mph and just didn’t see them right away due to the way a couple of cars were parked in the street....thankfully she wasn’t charged with anything.

That poor kid has to live with the fact that she (through no fault of her own) killed someone.

As someone with genetically bad knees, it’s significant. Which is why I use the asphalt and dirt trails at the local park when I run.

Asphalt is a softer surface than cement, so some runners prefer it if they are high mileage or have iffy knees

Hate bicyclists who bike and the narrowest & twisty roads. Makes it really unsafe to pass.

OK, those probably will never apply here in the Philippines because a car can stay in the same spot for 12 hours straight, but...

Bike lanes are absolutely nonexistent here, and worse? Illegal vendors sell their stuff on the sidewalk itself, so pedestrians only have two paths and the “bike lane” is about 6 inches wide, just by the door mirrors of cars. Yes, I do split lanes, following the lead of motorcycles.

I do, however, make sure of the following things:

==> I signal everytime, whether going left or right.

==> If I do wish to turn left, and I do turn left, I don’t turn left, but rather go with the pedestrians and then slot to the east/west end of the intersection so I can go to the other side of the road.

==> Finally, I ride in the smaller streets and by-ways, letting myself get lost a bit, but taking notes, too, and reading the traffic that uses said by-ways, since the right route and line can take me back to the big roads eventually. And besides, the ones I usually end up in are far more entertaining and fun to ride, what with the sudden and uneven changes in elevation and the bends present.

This is what I do, when I take my dig out for walks or ride my bike, I only ride on main roads for as short as possible, I personally feel safer on residential streets than on main roads, plus the side roads are far more interesting anyway.
