Anyone else notice how much FR-S values have fallen?

13’ FR-S for 16k with 35 thousand miles. If the used market fills with these at these kinds of prices, the answer might end up not being Miata anymore. Tempting to pull the trigger on dont you think?

Do it! you will not regret it, they are very rewarding to drive on the twisties, not a great choice if you’re all about the stoplight drags though

I think a big factor is no one wants to buy a car with a rep for being driven hard.

That, and the market for small 2 door cars is pretty small.

Focus st seem to be doing the same. Bought my 2013 with 30k miles mid level st2 trim and cpo warranty for 16,500

I actually heard somewhere thag the BRZ was holding its value better since its a Subaru, not a Scion...

People dont think the brz is driven as hard and will be just as reliable as other subarus...

Wow. It must be a demand for them where I live because the cheapest ST I could find was 19k with 23 thousand miles. From a Dodge dealer.

I kinda figured that the Scion badge had something to do with it. But most people dont realize that they are the same exact car. But then on the other had you also see more FR-S than BRZ’s so that probably has something to do with it too.

Thats because everyone wants an WRX, especially last gen hatch STi’s. They have held their values stubbornly. Saw an 07 STi with like 89k on it for 25 the other day.

It’s really funny it’s ending up that way.

So yes the BRZ costs a bit more up front...but down the road it’s holding value a lot better..

I still need to drive either one of em

It depends on the market. In my local market an ST3 is like a BRZ, while an ST1/2 is like an FR-S. Their perception and the perception of the buyers radically alters their value. ST3s depreciate very slowly, while ST1s and ST2s depreciate much faster the lower they go. Mods also completely destroy resale value. This is even true with the 2013s, which have well-known problems that have been posted all over the internet.

The FR-S and BRZ attracted different buyer demographics, too. BRZs were bought by people with more money that were less likely to mod them. The FR-S was seen as cheap speed by those that bought them and it’s probably very hard to find one that hasn’t been modified.

Yea alot of older ones are really modded. It’s annoying when the looking for one& what kinds of problems?

Yeah. I wish more people bought them to keep the market alive. I still prefer the new Miata but I haven't driven the FR-S/BRZ yet so that could change.

Smaller front rotors that fade sooner and rear motor mounts are the main ones I can think of off the top of my head. They did a lot of minor silent changed in 2014, including some mid-year changes.
