I get the reason why it works, but at the same time there are many things that could go wrong.
Certainly something that should only be used as a last resort though.

as long as the board is not much wider than than the tire and its on securely I see nothing wrong with it.

The way the board is strapped to the wheel could cause an issue. They’re not designed for that type of force to be applied in that area. Naturally this may be magnified if the driver is dumb with throttle usage.

I once used a folding campfire grill to get a 300M with bald tires out of some very soupy mud.
I guess you could say it worked pretty...grate.
