Kinja'd!!!

So I’m watching episode 3 of Fear the Walking Dead right, and this fine upstanding Hispanic older gentleman has just gone and put two rounds of buckshot into a zombie’s head.

Why JustWaitingForAMate, why would this action make you want to scream at the show?

Well dear reader, I shall enlighten you. The firearm that he is holding is an over/under 12 gauge shotgun.

Here’s another picture of it :

Kinja'd!!!

And just one more so you can see what sort of gun it is :

Kinja'd!!!

Now you’re probably thinking, but zombies eating lead, this is par for the course in these sort of shows.

But what does he manage to do before each shot? What sound do we hear?

A pump action being cycled.

A FUCKING PUMP ACTION BEING CYCLED ON A DOUBLE FUCKING BARREL SHOTGUN.

WAS THERE NO ONE IN THE FUCKING EDITING BOOTH OR DURING THE UMPTEEN FUCKING AMOUNT OF TIMES THEY WOULD HAVE SCREENED THIS FUCKING EPISODE BEFORE IT WENT TO AIR THAT THOUGH....WAIT A FUCKING SECOND, A DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN DOESN’T HAVE A FUCKING ACTION YOU CAN CYCLE!!!

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!!

OK, it’s out of my system now.

If you’re like me, you usually just give up on blatantly stupid stuff like this. As a gun nut, you kind of have to accept Hollywood shows and movies will get really simple details incredibly wrong. Seriously, if you watch a show or a movie and try to make a drinking game over incorrect firearms stuff, you’ll be in the back of an ambulance before the credits roll.

Oh ... right! Came here expecting a largely dispatched zombie head. Went relieved.

I recently got flak for complaining about a Porsche Boxster taking off to the sound of a V8.

Same speedometer shot is used in two different movies, for two different cars.

Car in movie 1:

1967 GT500.

Car in movie 2:

2005 F350 Super Duty.

My roommate and I tried watching 200MPH as a drinking game. The only rule: when they fuck up either continuity or a technical aspect of a car, take a shot. No more than 1 shot per minute.

In 45 minutes, the handle of UV Blue was empty and my roommate was barfing in the bathroom. Fifteen minutes later, he was sleeping under the coffee table.

A side by side, double barrel, pump action would be a fun toy. Until then we’re stuck with selectable double magazine, single barrel, pumps:

Kind of like when they mix and match 2-stroke and 4-stroke bike noises in movies. This always annoys me.

Or when they dub in an SLR sound for an old press camera or rangefinder.

I gave up on expecting realistic gun handling in these shows a long time ago. Remember the first episode of The Walking Dead where Rick tells his deputy with the Glock to take the safety off?
