The show was alright, they ran out of space so it was a bit of a clusterfuck. A couple neat cars there, including an E-type coupe and a Daytona Coupe kit (no pics, phone was dead). On the way out a member of the local VW club in a really nice lowered Rabbit Diesel followed me out of the show and snapped some impromptu roller shots.
In other news, the GTI is in the shop so I’ve been DDing the Karmann Ghia since Friday. It’s been interesting to say the least. The car drives really really well, but managing 46hp on 70+mph highways is less fun than maybe it could be.

I LOVE hose cars. Hardly ever see them nowadays. My aunt had one back in the ‘70s that got rear-ended and pushed into a truck in front of her. She said it was a hoot to drive.

My dad had one but his was a ‘71. Same color. His had factory A/C and he drove it across the country twice at 80 mph with the A/C on and by the time I began driving the car in 1980 or so, it had little left in the way of compression and belched a giant cloud of blue smoke each morning when I started it. But that didn’t keep me from piling four or five people in it and driving all over creation in it.

How in the name of all that is holy did you manage to fit 5 people in one of these? I can hardly fit 3, although I am a bit on the tall side so the seat behind me is effectively useless.

It’s really damn fun to drive, and I only know of one other one in the area so it’s unique to boot. I wouldn’t call it a full-on sports car, but it’s certainly a very good driver’s car.
