Visited some friends back at my old uni last night, everyone looked super young (first year students are just moving in) and it dawned on me that I have a degree and will hopefully be getting a job soon. Thankfully I can drive quirky little cars and act immature to make up for it.

Amen brother...I have TWO degrees and I am still looking for a job. Don’t talk to many of my uni friends, strangely...they all “faded away” after we graduated to an extent, other than one of them.
Still really close with all my friends that I’ve known since Jr. High though! :)

Man one degree was brutal enough, I couldn’t cut another haha. I have a promising interview next week but no job offers yet. I only have a couple friends from uni, then I’m still in touch with people I’ve known for ages. Still close with a friend I’ve known since 3 years old haha.
It is hard to stay in touch with people after uni though, a lot of people move away and get real busy. If I get the job I want I’ll be off to Germany for a while (in the UK now).

Yeah, that is what happened to my uni friends. I’m in Nova Scotia, Canada, but one is in Quebec, some are in Newfoundland, two in Alberta, and some a few hours away from me in Nova Scotia here, so them moving away didn’t help. The rest of my close friends live within an hour and a half or so of me.
I’ve got a Bachelor of Arts (Advanced Major - History, Minor - English) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary - Social Studies, English). Trying to find a teaching or museum job. I can do teaching, but I don’t feel “right” in the classroom compared to museum work...did 5 summer stints at the local museum and loved it, so hoping I can find a museum position. :)
Waiting to hear back from one I applied to that has a closing date of the 18th, maybe I will get an interview! Would LOVE to work at an automotive museum, that would be my dream job...

Can’t drive that quirky little car, though.
How old are you that you ponder thoughts like this, I wonder?

I work in a college town. Graduated 10 years ago. Classes are back in session and when I go to lunch sometimes they’re around. I can’t believe how young they look. Which is depressing because I have been fooling myself into thinking I look pretty much the same. I honestly don’t have any of my old college friends anymore, which is sad, but that’s life. I have a couple on my Steam friends list but we never talk anymore. Life moves forward, people get married, people die.

It must be unusual going back after that long. I may end up doing an extra year at some point to top my degree up to a masters so I’ll be in the same boat.

Only 21 but being around drunk 18 year old students makes you feel old anyways.

Good luck man I hope you get it. It would be an interesting job that’s for sure, I spent forever in the auto museum I went to last year, my gf got pretty bored...

That is a shame, I only just left so I’m still in touch with friends from uni for now. I still visit from time to time so we’ll stay in touch for now.

It’s a little weird. I thought the classes would be harder, sometimes I forget I’ve been doing real world science for 15 years, so it should seem easy I guess. Experience is the mother of education, I suppose.

Yeah if you’ve been doing the same stuff in the real world it shouldn’t be too bad. I struggle with academics and had to work my arse off just to pass, but I learn much better hands on. There’s a reason my final year project got me the best grade out of any module.
