It’s simple: don’t drive that fast.

How the hell did my mom have a Vue for 7 years, me drive it countless times, and I never notice that.
I guess that goes to show how annoying it was(n’t).

I can’t decide what is worst – font choice, double numbers or the orientation.

Double numbers are the absolute worst. Some GM cars— mostly Buicks because lol old people— have an ‘eng/met’ button that, when pressed, changes all of the gauges and digital readouts to read in metric or imperial. A ‘kph’ light on the dash lights up and the speedo sprints to the new correct speed. The digital thermometer switches to celsius. The odometer and tripometer switch to km. The coolant temp switches to celsius. You get the idea. It’s infinitely more readable/usable and a hell of a lot cleaner than this spastic bullshit that I see on most cars.

You would have zero problem driving a car with a MPH-only dashboard in Germany, so I have trouble figuring out why the U.S. would need the equivalent of that with “bonus kph” readouts.
I’ve long been bored of the imperial vs metric units wars, but I like to entertain the idea that you could have a voiceover chant “you are now travelling at 80 feet and 8 inches per second”. Or, say, the speed at which or below Sammy Hagar cannot drive.
“You are travelling at .87 times the typical takeoff speedd of a light Cessna 150!”
I like my temperatures in °C, because 0°C is where pee freezes.
