*sits in his chair avoiding work in order to obtain knowledge*
What does Oppo think about the Veloster Turbo?
Any Oppo own one? Would any Oppo own one?
Is this a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! price?

Possibly the slowest thing with a “turbo” badge this side of a ran-when-parked Craigslist Volvo. Great car if you don’t want something practical or better

Fearless Leader porsche9146 has one, but I don’t think it’s a turbo.

From what I’ve read the FiST, FoST and GTI are just better.

From what I’ve heard it’s an extreme example of could’ve/should’ve been good, but a few things let it down. Supposedly changing the tires out really transform them.

Apart from the car being a bit of a Frankenstein, I can’t imagine buying this over an ST from a speed, enjoyment or practicality standpoint.

If it was AWD with a manual it would be bad ass.

I would buy one. Not under the impression it would be faster somehow, but because I like how it looks, and it’s a relatively small-ish car that would be fine for commuting.
I would also replace the Veloster badge with one that says “Velosteraptor.”

It’s not really practical, fast, or anything special except that it’s a 4 door hatch. The turbo badge isn’t worth the money and in the end there are better options for your hard earned cash.

Honestly? Even being the Hyundai-Kia fanboy that I am, if you’re not looking for a kick ass warranty, you’re gonna want to steer to a GTI or an ST. However, if you don’t necessarily want an outright hot hatch, but want that motor, the Kia Forte SX Turbo could be interesting.

I do have one good thing to say about the Veloster; there is a gray color available (NOT the rare as hen’s teeth matte) that makes me turn my head every time I see it. Not sure which color it is, but it reminds me a lot of that Avalanche Gray on the GT350R.
Edit: I think it’s this one.
I know it doesn’t look like much, but it’s one of the nicest gray colors I’ve ever seen.

It’s the definition of fuck ugly, IMHO, but tastes differ.
Oh, and Victorious Secret had one at the time was banned.

Yes I’d buy one but only at the end of year clearout.
22K canadian all in for a brand new one is a deal and a half for damn sure.
Not the fastest thing in the world but who cares when it’s primary function is to commute back and forth to work it would be quick enough.

Rear suspension is super-janky. My normal test drive route includes a sweeping on-ramp with expansion joints. In the Veloster it induces this crazy butt shimmy which is incredibly disconcerting. Feels like the rear is shifting track significantly at every joint then you get this oscillation as it damps out. It exists in the Elantra as well, but not to the same degree. No good reason for that...not noticeable on regular roads, but there's no reason to get one when there's just a practical/better performing little hatches that don't do that.

My local Hyundai dealer currently has 3 matte blue rally edition ones and they look pretty sweet in person.

The Sonic actually handles well.

It is another 200 hp hot hatch. Just cross shop it with the Fiesta ST and the GTi.
I haven’t driven any of them but people love bashing korean brand cars for no reason at all but closet racism so take internet reviews with a grain of salt. Test drive them.
I think it looks better than the others, has a better interior, gives drivers coupe functionality and looks but sedan functionality for passengers. The 3 door configuration is genius!

That often happens with fwd cars that use cheap torsion beam rear suspensions. I test drove a Honda Fit once and noticed a similar issue. Although I didn’t have to go out of my way to find such conditions since I’m in Wisconsin and the highway on-ramp right by the Honda dealer had expansion joints exactly as you described.

I WANT ONE SO BAD!

Haven’t driven a Fit, but I’ve taken a number of other twist-beam guys on the same ramp. Solid axle FRs will do it as well. You can kind of feel the effect on them (except in the Fiesta where it’s totally absent) but the Hyundais are an order of magnitude worse on my anecdotal route.

Test drove one.
Didn’t buy one.
It was underwhelming. Interesting but underwhelming.
Didn’t even realize it was a turbo while driving...had to convince myself they didn’t just call it the turbo edition or something like that.

Oppo/Jalops despise any/all Korean cars. This is a silly question.
IMO Hyundai seriously fucked up with the Veloster. When it was annouced, its only competitor was the Civic Si, which had become long in the tooth. It was nice alternative for bros who were looking at Civics... until the Ford ST trim was released for the Focus and Fiesta.
Not really worth it unless you’re REALLY into its looks. I’d rather look into a used Fiesta ST for that price.

A local dealership had one of the matte black ones. It was pretty slick. Just couldn’t get over the fact they are super slow.

Where you tryped the word “Volvo” I think you meant to type “Saab”. haha but seriously 1/3 used 20-10 year old Saabs on Cl have the words “needs new turbo” written some where in the add.

that could look reaally cool with some blaze orange accents.

It’s a Hyundai trying it’s damned-est to be a new CRX. (small, fun, cheap, liftback, FWD, unlike a CRX the Voloster has rear seats, but i’m sure their next to useless.) And I’d love to give it a chance to prove itself. But I hate the way it looks, and I’ve been a bit prejudice towards it for that reason.
