!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!

So I’m in a particularly foul mood today, proceeded by a week of potentially devastating news that could see the project I have been working on for 6 years go right down the tube in a blink of an eye, with no recourse or chance at a resolution so yeah, FUCK THESE GUYS!

I’ve said and asked a few times over the last 2 years or so that some of you get smarter over the child like excitement and endorsment of ass hats like this.

My last post about the Papa John’s Pizza asshole owner was a case in point. True you may not see his 71 Camaro as a cool car but that’s a personal choice.

The story in it’s self with no other details or background information seems like a great car guy story; I wont recount it but if you don’t know what I’m talking about read this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

My question to all of you, ALL OF YOU, is this; are we finnaly at the point in time when the ownership of any super or hyper car is a sign that you are the worlds biggest jack/asshole?

I don’t mean the car is the reason or even responsible, but the symbol of a society and a slice there of, that seems filled or at least the mass majority of customers seem to be the lowest of low humans.

Do Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and the list goes on, care or have to care who buys their cars?

They cannot control what owners do or say while driving their cars and wearing branded shirts and all other sorts of paraphernalia, I just want to know if the companies themselves quietly hate these guys and in private are disgusted and scared at what these guys do to their reputations, I mean the manufacturers themselves.

I’ve attended a few upscale car shows and have mixed in with this type of company and I have to say it was fascinating each time. The CEO’s and VP’s of these companies out among the clientele, not customers, clientele, was a hysterical and eye opening experience.

An Italian car fest where my business partners and I where there to see Lamborghini was perhaps the best example. We all have the picture in our heads of what a typical Lambo Bro is. At this event, you couldn’t miss hitting one with a ripe tomato if you tried.

We clearly weren’t buyers or owners and we were there for business. Taking how we got treated by the upper management when staked directly up against their clientele was a stark reminder of how the world works today.

By no menas were we mistreated or rudely dealt with but the contrast to how they fawn over their owners and even the ‘Tifosi’ of Lamborghini? I’m not sure what to call them or if we even have a phrase.

I fully expect and understand the need for client care, clientele care, but this was over the top and sycophantic. ‘Out There’ and ‘In Your Face’ types with ‘That’ attitude that makes most of us cringe and even sick at times were being coddled and even praised at this event.

I get it, the “customer is always right”. The problem is, that simply is not true! The older I get the more I experience the less I see any circumstance where absolutes do raine true.

It just seems to me that over the last 15 or so years, the super or hyper car is the one symbol that seems to make it’s way into the hands of nothing but assholes like the ones in this video.

It may be nothing but a pure fantasy and a logistical nighmare for the likes of even Ferrari or Porsche to put their cars in the hands of true honest car guys and girls. What constitutes a ‘true car guy/girl’ has no defined parameters but I think most of us have an idea in our heads. It seems these people are far and few between and the majority of LaFerrari owners are not.

Maybe I’m the asshole. maybe I’m the snob? I know that isn’t true and you know that as well. Let’s all stop falling for the argument and retort that these guys put out as an answer to their bad behavour: It’s my personal freedom at stake, I’ve earned the right to act like this, your just jealous!

There is some truth to all of these statements. You are free, at least in most parts of the free and capitalist world to exercise your personal freedoms, for good or bad. You have earned enough cash to buy a car like this and yes I’m jealous, I’d love to be able to buy one as well. How, though, does any of that excuse your actions and even attitudes at times?

The accusations and examinations are about you and what you’ve done or said, not me. If you have to defend yourself by deflecting the questions and accusations back at me and my lack of means I hope most of you see and understand this for what it is: juvenile responses from indefensible actors.

Please, stop letting these assholes get away with these types of behavours all because someday you want the chance to act just like them and lord over the rest of us. I hope you make it, I hope you get put on the special list to be eligable to buy the super/hyper car of the future. I just hope you don’t act like an asshole once you get there!

There are rich tools, just like there are tools in any other demographic. The rich ones just gain more attention.

A lot of very successful people are “Assholes” before getting their toys. It’s what made them successful.

I don’t think it’s a reward so much as it’s a network that takes care of their own.

Assholery is ambition, creativity, and determination in other forms.

Jay Leno has his shity side I’m sure but I don’t he or Seinfeld are assholes. I did not say ALL super/hyper car owners are assholes, just that the seemingly and overwhelming majority are these days.

Part of the issue is accessibility. You see the asshole owners because they bought their car to "peacock". Thus, they need to be seen with it. The guy who bought his car because he loves performance, isn't being loud and attention grabbing, so he flies under the radar. Who knows, it could be that most owners are subdued, but since we only seem to see the d-bags, we'd never know.

I agree with almost all of your statement except this “ Who knows, it could be that most owners are subdued ,,”

I cannot say absolutely or with any measurable certainty but I think the idea of ‘most’ owners being true and honorable car guys/girls is a falacy today. The media environment we live in that exposes the D-bags because they shout the loudest and attract the most attention is just plain false at this moment in history, just just more D-bags than subdues owners .

Again not ALL owners of modern super/hyper cars are assholes but the majority are today and the car itself, as an object of desire and fame, fuels the attitude and actions that I think most of us dislike.

The car is not to blame, nor it’s constructor, but as the symbol of ‘symbols’ the modern super/hyper car is the one defining piece of jewellery that all of these assholes have and even try to hoard.

The uncertainty is why I added the “who knows”

My guess would be very few Lamborghini's or Veyrons ever see a track or speeds over 100. However, I would guess that a larger percentage of Porsche GT3s do. There are supercars that are just as capable, without being gaudy. That might be the key to filtering out the d-bags from the enthusiasts.
