Apparently this was a thing ... but never had the success of the “compact” El Camino from GM. It’s all there but I’m thinking CP on the price:

These things are hard to look at in person. The taillights just make me think of a person driving themselves directly to a cemetery.

Is this different from the Ranchero? did it exist at the same time?

It replaced the Ranchero. I don’t think Ford actually built them themselves, it was some outside contractor.

It was the replacement - but I guess they didn’t really want to develop it.

“No production records were kept by either Ford or National Coach, and estimates vary, but most say between 80 and 350 units were built”
Apperently they made it out of chooping up Fairmouts and putting in a fiberglass bed, which seems like a really bad idea
I learned something today. Thanks Oppo

I had no idea these existed! How ugly, and total CP price.
