Stones. I’m not a huge Beatles fan. I appreciate what they did for music, but meh.

I lived with a girl who was absolutely obsessed with the Beatles. Seriously, she took the entire thing to creepy and terrifying levels. Like, online roleplay where everyone was a Beatle. And they roleplayed things like... uh, well, you can guess.

I like the Beatles, but give me George Thorogood and the Destroyers any day.

Ya I get what your saying, all the girls in my high school would go out, get high and talk about how great the Beatles were and that really kinda turned me off on them. And I don’t like all the Hippy dippy love bullshit either.

I have never really gotten into the kinks that much, but the songs that I have heard are pretty damn good.

George may have grit appeal, but depth or range as a writer/songwriter I’m pretty sure he doesn’t. I’m saying this as someone who likes Motorhead, for pity’s sake.

Also, Quicksilver Messenger Service does a way better Who Do You Love .

I’ll be honest though, I enjoy Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Yardbirds and all that stuff.. but it’s a bit.. not ROCK enough for me, I grew up with The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Black Sabbath and stuff like that :P

The Stones were certainly more gritty performers and rocked a lot harder, and many of their songs absolutely crush it. I would place their high water marks higher. That being said, I’d rather listen to a Beatles *album* most of the time. Higher typical consistency, IMHO, with every song on an album a little different, as long as you aren’t getting the most pop-distilled Beatles that everybody has heard a thousand, thousand times. I make no apologies for putting Revolver and Rubber Soul on my favorite albums list in a pretty high position.

To listen to I’ll take the beatles, easy going pop music with a happy tone. Wich is best? the stones.

I never got really into the Rolling Stones, I know a lot more from the beatles and their music, and I know a lot of their songs because my mom had their albums, but I consider the Stones to be a better band.
Something similar happens to me with the who, I don’t know much of their work but I get the feeling they are one of the best bands of all times.

I think that’s why I like the stones better was because they were grittier and they had a good bluesy feel to them. Also they were the badboys compared to the squeky clean (for the most part) image of the Beatles.

If you were a teen in the 60s, the Stones were definitely cooler. I prefer the Beatles though, they explored more styles of music and they were better musicians. Especially Sgt. Peppers, such a cool concept album.

That being said, The Who were the best.

The Beatles were a better band in regards to their songwriting and how much they pushed the boundaries—radio play (nobody played songs longer than 2:30-3:00 consistently until them), the innovations they made in regard to studio recording (Abbey Road is still one of the cleanest and crispest sounding albums of all time IMO. I regularly use “Here Comes The Sun” as a stereo test song), and the influence they had.

That being said, the Stones are by far the better rock band. The attitude, their music, and their live shows are head and shoulders above the Fab Four.

Well, I’ve listened to both bands’ entire catalogs many times and I suppose I’ll listen to them both many more times, so I’m gonna go with Hendrix. Comparisons are odious.

Stones. Gimme Shelter is one of my all-time favorites. The Beatles have some GREAT songs too. Lenon was brilliant. LOVE their later, wall of sound era music. The early poppy stuff isn’t my favorite.

Gimme Pink Floyd over any other band though. WYWH and DSOTM were both absolute masterpieces.

I got tired of them because of marching band, concert band, and the girls who couldn’t stop yapping about them. The emo kids liked them too which was a fad that swept across the 07-09 years. I don’t care much for the stones. I prefer the Doors, jazz of any kind, alt rock, and a lot of Radiohead.

As similar as they are they’re really very different.

If I had to pick one I’d go Stones. Miss You is one of my all time favorite songs.

I would have the say the rolling stones, though it would be really close. I think the stones benefit from staying together longer and thus able to release a lot more songs through multiple genres of rock that were just starting in 1969.
