Anyone out there with some suggestions on roof racks and/or mud flaps? After last winter I feel the mud flaps would be nice because after all the snow melted I slapped the bumper and a crap ton of sand fell out.

The roof rack would be helpful because my snowboard barely fits and when it does, goodbye passengers. I’m also looking for a mountain bike so I figure a roof rack would be able to handle everything rather than having just a bike rack.

Thanks Oppo!

( I’d get black, though )

Rally Armor for the mudflaps, Yakima or Thule for the rack.

Figured Yakima or Thule would be suggested. Was likely going to look into Thule.

Thanks for the suggestion on mudflaps!

No problem! Have you looked into an accessory hitch for the bike? It’s tiring hoisting bikes up onto the roof of a modern car.

I haven’t done too much research as of yet because I don’t even know what bike I’ll be looking into!

I’m not concerned about hoisting a bike up, though. It would be only for trips (so not often) and I’m 6’4” so half the battle is just holding it while standing up haha. My concern right now is figuring out where in my new, tiny-ass apartment I can put a bike.

I have to kick the crap out of my wheel wells all winter long as so much snow gets built up in there it starts to impede the wheel from turning.

I have mud flaps on my BRZ - it doesn’t get rally duty but they do serve a purpose other than looking cool: When I’m on the track they keep the sides of my car clean. You can kick up a lot of marbles on the track, and they will streak the sides of your car pretty thoroughly. It saves me quite a bit of cleaning time.

Sure, they add drag. If I was worried about lap times I probably wouldn’t be on the track with stock tires and a soft suspension, though.

Seems like that could be tough with the center exhaust. If it works though they are worth the money.

The Rokblokz pictured are only $90 and functionally the same as the $135 Rally Armor flaps. Unless you find a great deal, save the $45 and use it to by 10% of that Thule rack!

Whenever people ask about bike racks for mountain bikes, I always suggest North Shore Racks. I’ve gone through thule and yakima stuff in the past, and my NSR-4 is the best bike rack i’ve ever had. They’re hitch receiver based though, and I don’t know how that works with a center mounted tailpipe like that though. if you can get a hitch though, an NSR-2 would probably work well

No worries. If you start at page one from 2013. Ford do a Ford branded Thule set I saw on page six I think they were $271 posted stateside. Replacement keys can be obtained from Thule with the key number (U.S. customs had opened one of the boxes and taken the keys out and not put them back in).

I went with a Rhino Rack; I prefer the clean, no-overhang look: http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products…

Another comment was to a forum on roof racks and I came across someone who recommended them. Looked slick and subtle. I think they’re my front runner for whenever I scrounge up the spare change.

You have a pic of your setup cuz I agree with you 100% on the preference of clean looks.

Very nice. I went through some of the early and late posts so if you were the middle, not quite there haha.
