Because I’m about to go hang hundreds of dollars of camera equipment off the side of my car for the sake of people’s Facebook profiles... At least I got a good one, right?
For those of you following along, a friend and I have started a website doing some automotive journalism and our main focus is on wicked pictures and video. This has given me all the motivation I need to dump tons of money into camera equipment and this dohicky is the latest. I’ve also recently spent way too much on a nice 14mm f/2.8 lens as well as remote shutter releases, more bags, a decent tripod, and lots of other little stuff.
My suggestion? Don’t ever pick up a camera, you don’t have money for car parts once you do.

Lost a GoPro Hero 3+ in Hawaii, another dropped off the car on a canyon run... Tell me about it.

Whatever you do, use a safety cable.

I would agree with you, but I’m not going to be using a Gopro, so even a tumble and bouncing along until I can come to a stop will do just about as much damage(if not more) than just falling off the car. :/

Thanks... you’re making me feel so much better about hanging a DSLR with a few hundred dollars worth of glass off a car....

But you’ll still have the images because killing a camera doesn’t necessarily kill the memory card.

Very true. And after using this thing I'm not worried anymore. It's ROCK solid.

This mount is made by Delkin, the Fat Gecko Triple Mount. I've looked at drift innovations before, their rollbar mounts are really cheap compared, I wonder if I could rig one up for a full size camera...
