Well guys, it’s been a year since I dragged my massive Nimitz-class Chrysler from a forlorn parking garage on the other side of Toronto and made it roadworthy again. What a ride it’s been.
I can’t seem to find any photos of the process, but from the beginning, awesome opponauts Peter SV and StephentheCanuck came out to help a guy they didn’t even know fix his car. It didn’t take much to get the old Newport back running. A few fluid changes and some odd gaskets here and there. After just two weeks of wrenching, she was back on the road.
My driveway got exponentially more awesome.
I drove it to my very first cars and coffee where I parked between an R32 GT-R and a Lotus Esprit Turbo. What a show!
My good friend and fellow opponaut, GenuineAlexReid came to visit me from Calgary and we shot a video on this majestic beast.
Initally, I was kinda frightened to drive the car, but after I solved an overheating issue and got used to the sheer size of the thing, I really started to enjoy it. The 383 is a strong and reliable engine. I had many dates. in this car. Girls loved the teal paint and I loved the massive bench seat...
I rented a heated, underground parking spot for her to hibernate through the cruel Canadian winter and she waited patiently for her turn. I went by every month to start it up and drive it around in the parking garage. Amazingly, she never needed a jump. Those old MoPar big-blocks are made of stern stuff!
Life changes and I moved to a cooler house but the Chrysler came with me. Barely fit down my narrow driveway!
And here we are, more than one year later. The car hasn’t had any unexpected mechanical troubles, has never left me stranded and still gets thumbs up and compliments wherever I go. it also swills mid-grade gas like it’s 1969 all over agin. Not like I give a damn. It’s worth it.
But I think it’s time. it’s time for a change and time to find the next loving home for my giant boat. She’s for sale to a good home and I hope she makes you as happy as she made me.

Well as luck would have it, I’ve always wanted to make a cross country drive in this thing. If you’re serious, I could drive it as far as Calgary for you. Where are you located?

I'm in Vancouver, and as much as I'd like to be completely serious, I doubt I could afford it considering how clean it is

Do you own the house? If so, spray foam insulation is amazing. My 1925 bungalow got way easier to heat after that.

Fun fact: The thing that enabled people to live in Canada in 1886 was the discovery of fire.
