And while the PD170 may not have been the motor I wanted when I bought the car; This is not to be sniffed at!
(Blind SR20, don’t hurt me)

It's depressing when a fast big estate gets far better economy than my tiny 60hp supermini...

A Focus, admittedly.

That’s rather good. Much better than my company car, a Focus wagon, late 2013, 1.6 TDCi ECOnetic Titanium with manual transmission. I get 5.2L/100 km according to the car itself (54 mpg UK, 45 mpg US). I only drive in city traffic and highways (130 kmh) though, no efficient back roads. I’ll add a picture later.

That’s actually my father’s car and it’s a bit misleading - I borrowed it for a long run so spent most of the time in sixth at 90 kmh or so. It generally averages about 5.3 l/100km.

Indeed. Long journey at legal speeds, sixth gear almost all the time.

Don’t recognise that dash layout, but something VAG speaks to me...
Skoda perhaps?

Cooorrrrrect. MkII Octavia.

I blame our smaller U.S. gallons. That has to be about 30 British mpgs....

A friend gets from Carlisle to Marbella (1,700miles) on two tanks (I was sure he said he did it on one, but I misheard and he said “one fill up en route” aka one full tank before setting off and one fill up whilst travelling) in a Skoda Superb Estate Mk2 1.9TDi. But still that’s very impressive.

How much is that in monetary terms? Is diesel still more expensive than petrol in the UK?
My brick averages around 17L/100km (14 mpUS, 16 mpg UK) on LPG, but since the stuff is around 0,49€/liter it still ends up being about 8€/100km which is roughly equivalent to a diesel car getting around 7L/100km (34 mpgUS, 40 mpgUK) around here.

better than me indeed... 2 tanks ago, I averaged 9 mpg... 45L to do 180km... wouhou lol
Best I ever did with this car was 23mpg.

British London or Canadian London?

I have a 67hp car that does 14mpg. I know your pain.

Woosh, not bad lol... My guess is some huge underpowered old thing?
![]() 09/01/2015 at 08:54 |

Even my diesel only got 50 mpg... That may have something to do with my driving.

Hint: Canadian London cannot into Skodas.

correction 15 year old Skodas yes, but never saw anyone even try to import one

That’s one thirsty brick. My Peugeot 406 coupe needs 10L/100km on LPG (€0.50/L), and as a result is much more financially economical than a gasoline (€1.50/L) Prius or a diesel (€1.20/L) powered car.

Well LPG has less energy density than petrol so in reality I should be getting between 13.5-15L/100km running on 95 RON which falls in line with the trip computer. It’s actually not that bad for a 230hp turbo car which is running a bit rich and is constantly driven in anger!
I recently got a more “economical”, naturally aspirated car for daily driving which gets around 12L/100km on LPG in city driving, which is around 6€/100kms. Ends up cheaper per kilometer than a friend’s Polo TDI which is always driven at a steady 90kph on highway whilst being much more enjoyable to drive.
LPG is unicorn fart!

Agreed, LPG is a blessing. I wouldn’t want it any other way. It makes driving a thirsty car affordable, and it’s easily the most ecologically friendly fossil fuel as well.

Indeed. But don’t say that too loud, let people believe it’s still like driving around with a bomb in the trunk. Lower demand = lower prices for us :)

///M mileage for life. I average 15.7 from my S62.
