“1990 mazda miata mx5 for sale.salvage title. has a small tear in the back window. starts and runs good. selling at reduced price because it drives for about 15 miles then it cuts out and dies,if it sits for about 15 minutes it will start back up and do the same thing.”
Any thoughts on what’s wrong/how to fix it? Worst case is that the temp gauge doesn’t work and the car is overheating. Or a clogged air filter?

If it is overheating and then running again - bad news. On the other hand, it could be as simple as a bad thermostat or a clogged fuel filter in the tank.
And if you’re an Angry Canadian, shouldn’t it be the HMS Murdersofa?

Anything with a salvage title is an automatic CP for me, not just because of the unknown safety but because of the hassle that it takes to get a salvaged vehicle back on the road. The following only applies if a vehicle with a salvage title has been inspected by an official and deemed repairable or not. If it fails this first inspection it can never be driven again.

If you have a vehicle that has been designated as salvage repairable and has been repaired and is ready for the road, you first need to have the vehicle inspected. This salvage inspection is a special process for which you must apply to the RMV and pay $50.
You will need a completed Application for Inspection of a Salvaged Motor Vehicle (Form T20541). You will also need to have the following:
-Your current salvage title.
-An appraisal from your insurance company .
-Bills of sales from purchases of all major parts used to repair the vehicle. If there are used parts involved in the restoration, you also need to include the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle from which the parts were originally taken.
-The receipt from the RMV for the $50 salvage inspection fee.
Bring all of the above to a designated RMV office for a salvage inspection. Salvage inspections are given by State Police on a walk-in basis during scheduled dates and times at specific RMV offices .
Pass a salvage inspection and your vehicle becomes eligible to be retitled as reconstructed or recovered theft, which will allow you to register the vehicle for the road.
However, the salvage designation will remain on the title, so that any future owners will understand that the car was once designated for salvage and repaired.

SS was used for civilian ships, but I think in modern times “M/V” or “M/Y” would be more apt.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

I’m gonna guess in-tank fuel pump; at least that’s what was the cause of something similar on my E21. $1450 and it might be worth a shot.

Still, the Murdersofa has a touch of royalty about it.

Sounds like CP unless you can figure out what’s wrong with the engine and it’s NBD, and you can work on it yourself... Also I would want the reason for the S title and ensure the frame isn’t bent. Disclaimer: I’m pretty conservative, having bought too much CP in the past :P

Salvage titles in Kansas are no big deal whatsoever. The “inspection” consists of making sure the VIN matches and the car has an engine.

Yes but in order to have that freedom you have to put up with living in Kansas.
