Displeased about the sticker, Open Diffu-San?

Kinja'd!!!

Has anyone here test driven an ND yet?

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

RR Miata tire looking pretty deflated. C4 sitting higher after new bushings and shocks, still slightly lower than a new Miata.

I haven’t driven one yet, but Travis (remember him?) took me for a ride in one around Lime Rock’s autocross course. I wrote about it here . I still need to get behind the wheel for myself, though.

I was fortunate enough to convince Mazda to lend me one for a 2-week trip.

I did a few articles in french for my media, but if you want the the short version:

IT’S SO GOOD!!!!

chassis is perfectly tuned, suspension are not too firm but they maintain the car through turns, the engine has enough power and loves to rev, the electric steering is more than up to the task, the car can slide if you want it to...

It’s amazing.

Forgot about your review, good read! I’m really interested in hearing about the steering from a non-autojourno (as it seems many have had EPS everything thrown at them, most of which are preceded by unremarkable hydraulic systems or “beta” electric steering). The NC’s steering just about made that car, so I’m interested to see whether or not the new system can—or even needs to—do the same.

I just stopped to take a quick look. Perhaps worried about curbing new wheels, maybe a new convertible owner not used to rearward blindness, probably just a typical D.C. area driver. High profile tires can be helpful at times!

Awesome! If the steering is still communicative and somewhat weighty, anything else will be nitpicking. I’d probably skip the Club and do wheels, tires, LSD, suspension, etc myself if I had the money and wanted a new car.

yeah the one I had didn’t had the Club pack, and I enjoyed it just as much.

Steering isn’t as good as it used to be, but this is a trend in the industry. Electric steering just isn’t as communicative as the hydraulic units. Nevertheless, it’s pretty good.

(I even had the automatic, and I liked it!)

I drove a new, beaten up (not sure how) 2015 club at a dealership and even though it wasn’t running right (hated to rev), the suspension made all of the difference over my dad’s NC w/ standard suspension. I found some lightly used Bilsteins and sport springs lying in the back of his friend’s shop and he managed to buy them and get them installed for $300... made a big difference but the car would need sway bars to really experience a significant change. I mention his car because it has that same 6AT and it’s really only a *damp* blanket as it’s out of place but does its job well enough. The steering in that car just about justifies buying a small, light, sporty car with a skybox when the deal and everything else is right; without having driven it, though, I can’t say that an automatic EPS miata would feel totally foreign.
