Copper metallic, gold matte wheels, and ivory leather interior.
A gorgeous car, in gorgeous colors.
What other color combos do you know of that are rare, unlikely, but uncommonly good?

If this didn’t have the later aero it’d be perfect.

I don’t mind the fender flares, without the big side sills between them. If the front bumper beam and the air dam were blacked out, I think it would look great, even with a bit of aero.
The tire fitment certainly benefits from the width.
I also like the non-circular wheel housing emphasis, which is obviously pushed by the fender flares. I have always wondered, though, why the front fender flare and wheel arch isn’t canted forward a bit to match the wedge of the front end of the car, when the rear fender is so far forward canted, unlike the rear body line.

World Rally Blue with gold wheels. It sounds stupid and childish, but it looks awesome. It turns an awkward-looking economy car into something quite beautiful.

White exterior, gold wheels
Gold wheels aren’t very common on non-modded, production cars

I think the rear wheel opening on the non-flare cars is just amazing.

It is a fantastic color combo, and almost always a winner. But it is well known enough to not really be that unknown, at least not to the enthusiast community.

What car enthusiast can call themselves such, without knowing Gulf Livery?

That is a good one, but so is the Countach Targa, once belonging to Rod Stewart.
To quote another Scot, “I’m rich and Scottish, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Not bad... but it has to wear the “racing livery” caveat. It wasn’t produced that way to sell, and for someone to buy and own that way.
It was done that way to catch eyes on the race track.
All sorts of weird and uncommon things are done for racing livery and attention getting that would not be welcomed on someone’s personal car.

I have a theory, dark blue looks amazing on every car. Almost any car will look good in it and gold compliments blue.

Blue is definitely the ultimate color for cars! There are very few cars that don’t look best in some shade of blue.
Oh, and gold (yellow) complements purple. Orange complements blue. Bro, do you even color wheel?
But, yeah, I guess gold starts to fall into the yellow-orange category.
I think green is the hardest color for a car to pull off. Jaguar is really the only company that consistently gets it right.

Color wheel wise you are correct. However in real life there are other colors that compliment it quite well too.

“Green and Yellow” sounds like a medium-small high school’s official colors, at best: “No one else in the state has these colors!” But when it’s British Racing Green variant with a well-saturated yellow, it’s a whole other animal.

Simple - green with red interior. I’ve loved this since I had a Matchbox Mercury Cougar with this combo. The dealer didn’t want to order the above combination for fear it wouldn’t sell if the person ordering it backed out, but when it arrived it got more positive attention than any other they had on the lot.

Oh, Green can look good. Albeit, not as easily as blue can, as you mention.

Deep dark green. This is a Mercury ‘49, and it’s not really my style, but G od. Damn. It has the exact color I was looking for.
This Countach is tractor-green. It looks like a lawnmower or a John Deere. Now picture that ‘49 color on that Countach. Drop that copper wheels and put the chromed like those bumpers. Thank you.
Now this Lambo is almost blue.
This Aventador looks better than that Countach in Green. Still, that ‘49.... Yep, green over chrome , or green over black.
Green Vette...
Green Mopar... (a freaking model looks good in lime green!)
I don’t know WTF is this, but this Toyota looks better green. Carmax, whatever.

That is one fantastic shade of green. Almost blue.
