Kinja'd!!!

It has 56,854 original miles!

Yeah...in the same way that I have been alive for 16 original years, and I have 2 original parents.

It means they didn’t copy those miles from a better vehicle.

It's for hipsters. That car got those miles before miles sold out.

Odometer hasn’t been changed and no major restoration has been performed.

It’s something you say when your listed odometer reading is not believable.

Watch out also for “odometer shows x.” Well of course the odometer shows x. If it didn’t then that would be really strange. Usually this means, “I’m not saying it’s a 5 digit odo that’s rolled over twice, and I’m not explicitly saying that I rolled it back myself, but what I am saying that you just happen to see x when you look at the odometer and offer no real information of the validity of said reading.”

Generally taken to mean original engine.

56,854 original miles, straight from the factory!

As opposed to an odometer issue, an odometer rollover, a falsification, a restoration, a new drivetrain, etc.

Nice Caddy BTW.

“This car has a 5 digit speedo, and I want to convince you that it hasn’t rolled over!” So pretty much nothing. It’s like saying it has very circular wheels.

It generally means that the original odometer is still in place and working and hasn’t rolled over, so the number showing is the correct mileage for the vehicle.

Geez. I read through the comments in order to ‘like’ someone’s correct answer. There are some close ones, but no one seems to have it correct.

‘Original miles’ means the 5 digit odometer hasn’t rolled over yet past 100,000 miles.

End of definition. It means nothing more than that and nothing less than that.

Hey, not everyone has two original parents. Some have replacements. Batman has none.
