Greetings from Italy. We are in Santa Margherita and took the family into Portofino for dinner. The place is a beautiful spot. Anyway. This monster was parked in the middle of this tiny harbor. The Wedge Too. It is 65m of awesome and opened by Issam Fares, billionaire.

The second picture is my view right now. Does not suck. Sitting on the balcony of our hotel sipping whiskey and coke with the family.

Ah, Europe. Was in Malta for our honeymoon a few years ago and came across the Maltese Falcon.

I wonder if the other happiest day in that boat owner’s life is when they sell it. Does that work for mega yachts?

We too saw a megayacht while we were in Italy, the 97m Carinthia VII moored just outside the entrance of its home port of Venice (which is where I imagine this photo was taken). Our ferry passed close to it so we could get a sense of scale; our boat was about the size of those four windows underneath the middle part of the superstructure.

What’s amazing is that the biggest private yacht in the world ( Azzam , owned by the President of the UAE) is almost three times as long as The Wedge Too at 180m:

From an engineering and construction standpoint megayachts like these are just fascinating, it was really cool you could see one on your trip.

Pretty sure we saw the Carinthia coming into port on Venice while we were there. Large boat amongst many small boats!

I hear that yes, it’s still the happiest day, even at that level. They’re either becoming more liquid, or getting another one delivered.
